1 Scope
This Part of JB/T 5089 specifies the terms and definitions, test items, test methods for
the test of full-flow paper filter oil filters for internal combustion engines.
This Part applies to the full-flow paper filter oil filter assembly and filter element, for
small and medium-power internal combustion engines (hereinafter referred to as the
assembly and filter element, respectively).

4 Test items
The test and inspection items, which are specified in this Part, are as follows:
a) Pressure-flow characteristic test;
b) Original filtration efficiency, life, cumulative efficiency tests;
c) Cleanliness test;
d) Sealing test;
e) Initial bubbling pressure test of filter element;
f) Bypass valve performance test;
g) Test of filter element's resistance to high pressure drop and high temperature
performance;
h) Static pressure strength test;
i) Cold start simulation and hydraulic pulse fatigue test;
j) Vibration fatigue resistance test;
k) Corrosion resistance test;
5.4.2 Test medium and temperature
The test medium is dry, clean air; the test is conducted at room temperature.
5.4.3 Test procedure
5.4.3.1 Install the assembly under test to the test device. Connect the inlet end to the air
source. Connect the outlet end to the pressure gauge. The flange surface of the filter
seat, which has the oil inlet and outlet holes, shall be tightly fixed and sealed on the
mounting plate. The pressure regulating valve and other components shall be well
installed, to prevent water from entering the assembly.
5.4.3.2 Submerge the tested assembly into the water.
5.4.3.3 Adjust the pressure regulating valve 3, so that the indication value of the
pressure gauge 7 reaches 800 kPa. Then start the timer. Within 1 minute, no bubbles
shall appear on each sealing surface.
5.4.4 Test report
The test report shall include the following content:
a) Assembly manufacturer;
b) Product name and model:
c) Indication of the newness or usage time of the assembly:
d) Test pressure and pressure holding time:
e) Test organization and test personnel;
f) Test date.
5.5 Initial bubbling pressure test of filter element
The test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 14041.1. The
test liquid is isopropyl alcohol.
5.6 Performance test of bypass valve
The test shall be carried out, in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 8243.2.
b) Connect the manual hydraulic pump to the inlet of the filter seat (or test filter seat).
Connect an oil outlet valve to the outlet of the filter seat. The outlet of the oil
outlet valve shall be placed at the highest point of the entire system.
c) Operate the manual hydraulic pump, to pump the test fluid into the system, until
the test fluid flows out of the outlet of the oil delivery valve. This indicates that
all air has been removed from the system.
d) Close the oil outlet valve. Install a protective cover between the test observer and
the test piece.
e) Gradually increase the oil pressure to 1800 kPa. Hold the pressure for 5 minutes.
During the entire pressure holding process, check whether there is leakage or
deformation of the test piece and all pipelines.
f) Open the oil outlet valve. Reduce the oil pressure to zero. Check the test piece for
permanent deformation and other defects. Manually rotate the test piece housing,
to confirm that the housing does not loosen under the test pressure. Check the
relative movement of the assembly, as relative to the filter seat (or test filter seat).
5.8.4 Test report
The test report shall at least include the following contents:
a) The holding pressure of the test piece during the test, in kilopascal (kPa); the
holding time without damage, in minutes (min).
b) The duration of pressure holding when damage occurs, in minutes (min); the form
and location of the damage.
c) The tightening torque applied by the tightening assembly, in Newton meters (N •
m).
d) Rated volumetric flow rate of the test piece, in liters per minute (L/min).
e) A brief description of the test piece, whether it is a new piece or a used piece. If it
is a used piece, the approximate time of use shall be given, in hours (h).
f) Manufacturer and model of the test piece.
5.9 Cold start simulation and hydraulic pulse fatigue test
The test shall be carried out, in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 8243.5.
