GB/T 905-1994 GB NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA GB/T 905-94 Replacing GB/T 905-82 GB/T 906-82 GB/T 907-82 Dimension, Shape, Weight and Tolerance for Cold- Drawn Round, Square and Hexagonal Steels APPROVED ON. DECEMBER 22, 1994 IMPLEMENTED ON. OCTOBER 01, 1995 Approved by. State Bureau of Technical Supervision Table of Contents 1 Subject Contents and Applicable Scope ... 3 2 Sectional Diagram and Marking Symbols of Steel ... 3 3 Dimension, Weight and Tolerance ... 4 4 Shape ... 8 5 Marking Example ... 9 Additional Information... 10 Dimension, Shape, Weight and Tolerance for Cold- Drawn Round, Square and Hexagonal Steels The dimensional tolerance in this Standard are based on the values in the international standard ISO 286.1-1998 ISO System of Limits and Fits – Part 1. Bases of Tolerances, Deviation and Fits; and are consistent with the provisions of GB 1800 Tolerances and Fits. 1 Subject Contents and Applicable Scope This Standard specifies the dimension, shape, weight and tolerance of cold-drawn round, square and hexagonal steels. This Standard is applicable to the cold-drawn round, square and hexagonal steels with dimension of 3~80mm. 2 Sectional Diagram and Marking Symbols of Steel 2.1 The sectional diagram and marking symbols of round steel is as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 2.2 The sectional diagram and marking symbols of square steel is as shown in Figure 2. 3.3.2 According to the negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser, the steel with the tolerance beyond that of the specified in Table 2 can be supplied. 3.3.3 The dimensional tolerance level of steel can refer to Table 3. Table 3 3.4 Length and Tolerance of steel 3.4.1 Normal length 3.4.1.1 The normal length of the steel is 2000~6000mm. The steel with length no less than 1500mm is allowed to be delivered; its weight shall not exceed 10% total weigh of such batch; however, the high-alloy steel with length no less than 1000mm is allowed to be delivered; its weight shall not exceed 10% total weight of such batch. 3.4.1.2 Through the negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser, the steel with length greater than 6000mm can be supplied. 3.4.2 Specified and multiple length 3.4.2.1 The steel delivered by the specified and multiple length, and indicated in the contract, its length tolerance shall be no greater than +50 0 mm 3.4.2.2 Through the negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser, for the steel delivered by the specified and multiple length, the non-specified steel with weight no greater than 10% of the total weight of such batch is allowed to be delivered. 4 Shape 4.1 The steel is delivered in straight bars. 4.2 Through the negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser, steel can be delivered in discs; the disc diameter and weight shall be agreed upon by the two parties. 4.3 According to the demand of the purchaser, the round steel with out-of-roundness no greater than 50% diameter tolerance can be supplied. 4.4 Steel shall be free of significant torsion; while the square steel shall be free of significant out-of-squareness. 4.5 When there are special requirements for the radius of top corner and diagonal lines on the square steel and hexagonal steel, it shall be negotiated by the supplier and the Round steel Square steel Hexagonal steel Sectional shape Applicable level purchaser. 4.6 The end of the steel shall not have a bend and the shearing deformation that may affect the use. 4.7 Curvature 4.7.1 Steel with dimension greater than or equal to 7mm for straight bar delivery, its curvature shall conform to the provisions of Table 4. Table 4 NOTE. The round steel for auto-cutting shall be indicated in the contract. 4.7.2 Through the negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser, for the hexagonal steel for auto-cutting and for straight bar delivery, when its dimension is 7~25mm, then the curvature per meter shall be no greater than 2mm; when its dimension is greater than 25mm, then the curvature per meter shall be no greater than 1mm. 4.7.3 For the steel with dimension less than 7mm for straight bar delivery, its curvature per meter shall be no greater than 4mm. 5 Marking Example The markings of cold-drawn steels made of 40Cr steel, with dimension tolerance of Level-11, the diameter, side length and opposite side distance of 20mm shall be as follows. Cold-drawn round steel. Cold-drawn square steel. Cold-drawn hexagonal steel. Level Level Level Level Round steel for auto-cutting Curvature No greater than No greater than Total curvature Dimension The product of the total length and the allowable curvature per meter ......
