This Standard replaces GB/T 8163-2008 “Seamless steel tubes for liquid service”. Compared with GB/T 8163-2008, the main technical changes are as follows.
modified the outer diameter and wall thickness tolerance of cold drawn (rolled) seamless steel pipe (see 4.2.1 and 4.2.3 of this Edition, 4.2.1 and
4.2.3 of Edition 2008);
modified the allowable deviation of wall thickness of hot expanded steel pipe (see 4.2.2 of this Edition, 4.2.2 of Edition 2008);
modified the normal length range and length deviation requirements of steel pipe (see 4.3.1 and 4.3.3.2 of this Edition, 4.3.1 and 4.3.3.2 of Edition 2008);
-deleted the designation of Q295 and relative technical requirements (see
5.1.1 of Edition 2008);
-added chemical composition and carbon equivalent of each designation of low alloy high strength structural steel (see 5.1.3 of this Edition);
- added 10, 20 steel chemical composition table (see 5.1.2);
deleted hot extruded steel pipe manufacturing method (see 5.2.3 of Edition 2008);
deleted that the yield strength of each designation of steel pipe is graded according to the wall thickness of the steel pipe (see 5.4.1 of Edition 2008);
-added the flattening test requirements of designation of Q390 (see 5.5.1 of this Edition);
-deleted that ultrasonic testing can be used instead of hydraulic test (see
5.5.4 of Edition 2008);
added that steel pipe can be negotiated for ultrasonic nondestructive testing;
added galvanized layer and related technical requirements (see 5.9 and Annex A of this Edition).
This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Steels of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 183).

If there is any doubt about the presence or absence of a zinc layer on the bottom surface of the red metal copper deposit, the red metal copper deposit may be scraped off, where one to several drops of dilute hydrochloric acid are dropped. If there is a zinc layer, there is active hydrogen production. If there is a zinc layer, there is active hydrogen production. In addition, it can also be determined by qualitative test of zinc, that is, the acid solution collected by a small piece of filter paper or a pipette is collected and neutralized with ammonium hydroxide to make it weak acidity. Introduce hydrogen sulfide into this solution to see if white zinc sulfide precipitate is formed.
A.8 Galvanized layer adhesion
After the steel pipe with an outer diameter of not more than 60.3mm is galvanized, the adhesion test of the galvanized layer shall be carried out with bending test. During the test, the bent sample shall be free of filler, the bending radius is 8 times the outer diameter of the steel pipe, and the bending angle is 90°. After the test, the sample shall not peel off the zinc layer.
According to the requirements of the purchaser, the supplier and the purchaser shall negotiate and indicate in the contract that the steel pipe with an outer diameter greater than 60.3mm may be subject to the flattening test for the adhesion test of the galvanized layer. The length of the flattened sample is not less than 64mm. During the test, when the distance between the two plates is 3/4 of the outer diameter of the steel pipe, the sample shall not peel off the zinc layer.
A.9 Surface quality of galvanized layer
The inner and outer surfaces of the steel pipe shall be completely galvanized, and there shall be no black spots and bubbles that are not plated with zinc, allowing for a rough surface and local zinc tumors.
After the steel pipe is galvanized, the surface can be passivated.
