Foreword
GB/T 7568 is divided into 7 parts:
- Specification for wool adjacent fabric;
- Specification for cotton and viscose standard adjacent fabric;
- Specification for polyamide standard adjacent fabric;
- Specification for polyester adjacent fabric;
- Specification for acrylic adjacent fabric;
- Specification for silk adjacent fabric;
- Specification for multi-fiber standard adjacent fabric.
This part is the part 1 of GB/T 7768. It modifies and uses the ISO 105-F01:2001
Textiles - Tests for color fastness - Part F01: Specification for wool adjacent
fabric (English version).
This part replaces the GB 7566-1987 Textiles - Tests for color fastness -
Specification for wool standard adjacent fabric: Wool, because the original
standard is technically obsolete due to international development.
This part was redrafted in accordance with ISO 105-F01:2001. According to
international standard and the actual conditions of Chinese national standards,
this part had made technical revisions when using the international standards.
The revisions are as follows:
In the “Normative reference” of the international standard, it cites ISO 105-J01.
In this part, it changes it into the reference to the Chinese standard GB/T 8424.2
which is corresponding to ISO 105-J02:1997.
For ease of use, this part has made the following editorial changes:
a) CHANGE the word "this part of ISO" into this part;
b) USE a decimal point “.” To replace the comma “,” which functions as a
decimal point;
c) DELETE the foreword to international standards.
As compared with GB 7564-1987, the main changes in this part are as follows:
- CHANGE the evaluation index of the staining performance of the adjacent
fabric into: Change the staining of the cotton-stained reference fabric in the
Textiles - Tests for color fastness -
Specification for wool adjacent fabric
1 Scope
This part specifies an undyed wool adjacent fabric suitable for use in assessing
staining in color fastness tests. The staining characteristics of the wool adjacent
fabric to be tested shall be compared with the standard wool adjacent fabric for
evaluation, which shall be carried out by two pieces of wool-stained and one
piece of cotton-stained reference fabric. All the reference fabrics shall be
obtained from the prescribed supply.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this part
through reference in this part of GB/T 7568. For the dated references, the
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this part; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this part are
encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.
For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.

The yellowness of the adjacent fabric G = 25 ± 2, which is calculated according
to the formula (1):
Where: G - The yellowness of specimen.
X10, Y10, Z10 - Tristimulus value of specimen.
The pH value of the water extract shall be 7.5 ± 0.5 when measured according
to GB/T 7573.
The mass ratio of soluble substance of dichloromethane as measured
according to the method as specified in FZ/T 20018 shall be (0.5 ± 0.1)%.
The mass ratio of alkaline solubility as measured according to the method as
specified in GB/T 7571 shall be not more than 18%.
5 Evaluation of staining performance of tested wool
adjacent fabric
5.1 General
The adjacent fabric shall be reproducible in the color fastness test, so the most
important performance is to meet the standard staining characteristics. When
tested by the use of a cotton-stained and wool-stained reference fabric, the
tested wool adjacent fabric shall have the same staining performance as the
wool reference adjacent fabric.
5.2 Test method
Sandwich a piece of wool-stained reference fabric (3.3) between a piece of
tested wool adjacent fabric (3.1) and a piece of wool reference adjacent fabric
(3.2). In order to eliminate possible differences in test conditions, the wool
standard adjacent fabric and the tested wool adjacent fabric shall be applied to
the same set of combined specimen. The combined specimen is tested as
specified in GB/T 5713.
Use a piece of wool-stained reference fabric (3.4) to replace the cotton-stained
reference fabric to repeat the above test.
Use another piece of wool-stained reference fabric (3.5) to replace the cotton-
stained reference fabric to form another set of combined specimen, to perform
test according to the provisions of GB/T 3921.2.
Appendix A
(Informative)
Preparation of wool adjacent fabric and stained reference fabric
A.1 Preparation of wool adjacent fabric
A.1.1 Canvas work raw materials
The mean fiber diameter of the Australian Merino Wool is between 18.5 µm and
19.7 µm, which is equivalent to 74S in British System after washing by weak
base.
The length of specimen taken is 50 mm ~ 70 mm.
A.1.2 Warp and weft yarn
15.6 tex x 2 spinning.
Single yarn twist: 62 twists/10 cm.
Strand yarn twist: 60 twists/10 cm.
Yarn’s fat content: (0.6 ± 0.2)% (emulsified peanut oil).
When steaming of single yarn and after twisting, the steam inlet time and
humidity control shall be moderate and uniform.
The steamed yarn sample should be tested, to determine if it meets the
following requirements:
The pH value of water extract at 20 °C is 9.5 ± 0.2.
Fat content: (0.6 ± 0.2)%.
The staining of the test of color-fastness-to-water by the use of the cotton-
stained reference fabric (3.3) shall be grade 2 ~ 3 or grade 3, that is,
approximately or slightly lower than the reference adjacent fabric.
Alkali solubility (according to GB/T 7571) shall not exceed 18%.
A.1.3 Greige cloth
1/1 plain weave fabric.
