This part is part 3 of GB/T 6901.
This part replaces GB/T 6901.3-1986.
Compared with GB/T 6901.3-1986, the major changes of this part are as follows.
- ADD the preface, normative references, quality assurance and control, test
reports of each chapter;
- SPECIFIY the sample preparation in detail. IMPROVED the operability;
- ADD provision of rounding digits of analysis value. And it allows the use of other
provisions;
- According to GB/T 1.1-2000 and GB/T 20001.4-2001, ADJUST the structure and
format of this part.
This part was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This part shall be administered by National Refractories Standardization Technical
Committee refractories (SAC/TC 193).

Determination of silicon dioxide -
Hydrofluoric acid gravimetric method
1 Scope 
This part specifies the hydrofluoric acid gravimetric method to determine silicon
dioxide.
This part applies to the determination of silicon dioxide in silica refractories.
Measuring range (mass fraction) is greater than 95.00%.

3 Principle   
After the sample is burned to the constant, USE hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid to
dissolve. EVAPORATE it to remove the silicon. Then USE nitrate to remove fluoride.
BURN at 1000 °C - 1100 °C to constant weight. The difference between the 2
weighings is the amount of silicon dioxide.

4.1 Nitrate (ρ1, 42 g/mL).
4.2 Hydrofluoric acid (40%).
