This Standard replaces GB/T 6326-2005 “Tyre terms and definitions”. Compared with GB/T 6326-2005, the major technical differences in this Standard are as follows. — ADD terms of snow tyre, run flat tyre, and self-supporting run flat tyre (see 3.1.6, 3.1.7, and 3.1.8); — REVISE the expression of parts of terms (see 3.3.1 and 3.3.2); — ADD terms of rim, electric bicycle tyre, and crotchet type tyre (see 2.11, 3.3.12, and 3.4.32); — DELETE terms of bicycle tyre (see 4.3.12 of 2005 Edition); — ADD relevant terms of wet grip index and snow grip index (see 8.7.29 and 8.7.30); — ADD terms of radial force of first harmonic-RFV1H and lateral force of first harmonic-LFV1H (see 8.10.9 and 8.10.10); — ADD relevant terms of rolling resistance (see 8.12); — ADD relevant terms of longitudinal and lateral stiffness and electrical resistance (see 8.16 and 8.17); — ADD relevant terms of additional size designation (see 9.3); — ADD terms of tyre strength indicator (see 11.2.6); — ADD terms of precured retread and mold retread (see 12.3 and 12.4); — ADJUST the arrangement of chapters and articles. This Standard uses redrafting method by referencing ISO 4223-1.2002 "Definitions of Some Terms Used in the Tyre Industry - Part 1. Pneumatic Tyres", however, it is not equivalent to ISO 4223-1.2002. The Standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association. The Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee 19 on Tyres and Rims of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 19). Drafting organizations of this Standard. Tyre Terms and Definitions 1 Scope This Standard specifies the terms and definitions for general use, category of tyres, components of tyres, tread pattern, rims, dimension of tyres, performance and test of tyre, tyre marking, appearance defects, application, retread and repair. This Standard is applicable to passenger car tyre, light truck tyre, truck tyre, earth-mover tyre, agricultural tyre, industrial tyre, motorcycle tyre, cycle tyre and aircraft tire. 2 General terms 2.1 Tyre A ring-shaped covering that fits around a wheel's rim for driving the automobiles, engineering machinery, agricultural machinery, industrial vehicle, motorcycle and cycle vehicle and helping the aircrafts take off /land. 2.2 New tyre Tyre that has been neither used nor subjected to a retreading operation. 2.3 Grown tyre Tyre that has undergone expansion due to use in service. 2.4 Pneumatic tyre Tyre that needs the compressed gas or liquid in the chamber and is capable of keeping the pressure, including tube-tyre and tubeless tyre. 2.5 Solid tyre Aircraft tyre Pneumatic tyre designed for aircraft. 3.3.9 Motorcycle tyre Tyre designed for two-wheeled motor vehicle or three-wheel motor vehicle with complete vehicle mass less than or equal to 400kg. 3.3.10 Moped tyre Tyre designed for two-wheeled or three-wheel motor vehicle with speed per hour less than or equal to at 50 km/h and total displacement less than or equal to 50mL. 3.3.11 Cycle tyre Tyre designed for non-motor vehicle, such as handcart, bicycle and tricycle. 3.3.12 Electric bicycle tyre Tyre designed for the electric bicycle. 3.4 Other tyres 3.4.1 Cast tyre Tyre made by the casting process. 3.4.2 Foam filled tyre Tyre that has the elastic foam materials replace compressed gas in the inner cavity of cover. 3.4.3 Removable tread tyre Pneumatic tyre with bead core made of hard material and applied on the rim for the straight side and hooked bead cycle vehicle. 3.4.28 Straight side of bicycle tyre Pneumatic tyre with groove outside the bead and applied on the rim for the straight side bicycle. 3.4.29 Hooked bead of bicycle tyre Pneumatic tyre with hooked bead and applied on the rim for the hooked bead bicycle. 3.4.30 Compatible type of hooked bead or straight side bicycle tyre Pneumatic tyre fixed on the rim of both the straight side bicycle and hooked bead bicycle. 3.4.31 Tubular tyre for bicycle Pneumatic tyre with the inner and outer tyre as an integrity and tubular carcass, applicable to the rim of the athletic type bicycle. 3.4.32 Crotchet type tyre Tyre of which the bead core is made of steel wire or other high-strength materials, and the contour shape of bead matches the crotchet type (CT) rim. 4 Components of tyre (See Figure 1 and Figure 2) 4.16 Apex Rubber strip, in the triangular section, transitional from upper bead ring to the sidewall. 4.17 Bead ring Stiffening ring coiled by coppered steel wire, important to fix the tyre on the rim. 4.18 Chafer Rubber strip affixed outside the bead. 4.19 Decorative rib Decorative lines molded on the sidewall. 4.20 Fitting line Single or multiple ring chine molded at the sidewall and jointed with the bead, served as a mark line to indicate that the tyre is assembled on the rim correctly. 4.21 Kerbing rib Bulged circular chine molded on the sidewall, used to protect the sidewall against the abrasion. 4.22 Chine Bulged circumferential circular chine, set at the nose aircraft tyre shoulder, used to make the water on tread back to prevent water from being into the aircrafts engine. Pattern suitable for traveling on non-paved road. 5.5 Highway tread pattern Pattern suitable for traveling on paved road. 5.6 On/off road tread pattern Special pattern suitable for multiple occasions, such as highway pattern/off-road pattern and longitudinal pattern/transversal pattern. 5.7 Pattern for traction Pattern, having deeper groove and better adhesion performance than the normal pattern. 5.8 Directional tread pattern Pattern required for travel direction. 5.9 Asymmetric pattern Pattern that the entire tread pattern shape is not symmetrical to the centerline of the tread, or the pattern shape of each pitch is not symmetrical to the centerline of the pitch. 5.10 Mud and snow pattern Pattern suited for muddy and snow road. 5.11 Snow pattern Pattern suited for ice and snow road. 5.12 Pattern block The projection, separately independent or partially independent, spaced among the tread patterns. 5.13 Pattern rib Consecutive strip projection in the tread pattern. 5.14 Groove Groove separating the projection of tread pattern. 5.15 Pattern sipe Gap on tread pattern block... ......
