GB/T 5163-2006 GB NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA ICS 77.160 H 21 GB/T 5163-2006 / ISO 2738.1999 Replacing GB/T 5163~5165-1985 Sintered Metal Materials, Excluding Hard Metals – Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Density, Oil Content, and Open Porosity (ISO 2738.1999(E), IDT) ISSUED ON. JULY 18, 2006 IMPLEMENTED ON. NOVEMBER 01, 2006 Issued by. General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; Standardization Administration of PRC. Table of Contents Foreword . 3 1 Scope .. 5 2 Normative References . 5 3 Symbols and Designations . 5 4 Terms and Definitions . 6 5 Test Procedures . 7 6 Instruments and Reagents . 7 7 Test Piece . 9 8 Test Procedures . 9 9 Expression of Results . 13 10 Precision . 14 11 Test Report . 14 Foreword This Standard equivalently adopted ISO 2738.1999 Sintered Metal Materials, Excluding Hard Metals – Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Density, Oil Content, and Open Porosity. This Standard modified the following standards like GB/T 5163-1985 Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Density, GB/T 5164-1985 Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Open Porosity, GB/T 5165-1985 Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Oil Content. The original three standards were combined into one standard. Compared with GB/T 5163-1985, GB/T 5164-1985, GB/T 5165-1985, this Standard has the major changes in contents as follows. --- Increase the definition and test method of fully impregnated density in the determination of density; --- Increase the definition, test method and calculation formula of oil content expressed by percentage of the volume of the open porosity in the determination of oil content; --- Add the operating methods and precautions of using Soxhlet extractor to degrease; --- Increase the surface-coated reagents, paraffin and silicon; --- Delete the diagram of Soxhlet extraction apparatus; --- In case when the sample is too large and requires to be broken into small pieces in the original standard; the density of all small pieces requires to be tested; while in this Standard, only the representative part of the composition requires to be tested; --- For the provision of small test pieces, the volume of which in the original standard specifies to be less than 0.5cm3; while the mass of which in this Standard specifies to be less than 5g; --- When test piece is fully impregnated in the original standard, the maximum vacuumed pressure on the oil surface is 0.1bar; while in this Standard, it is 70kPa. The requirements for impregnated oil shall be “generally 20°C-oil with kinematic viscosities between 50mm2/s and 300mm2/s (50cSt ~ 300cSt)”. Modify the range between ISO VG20 and VG 150 specified in ISO 3448 into “generally 40°C-oil with viscosities between 22mm2/s and 68mm2/s; which is equivalent to the range between VG22~VG68 specified in ISO 3448”; Sintered Metal Materials, Excluding Hard Metals – Permeable Sintered Metal Materials – Determination of Density, Oil Content, and Open Porosity 1 Scope This Standard specifies methods of determining the density, oil content and open porosity of permeable sintered metal materials. This Standard applies in particular to porous metal bearings and to mechanical parts produced by pressing and sintering metal powders. 2 Normative References The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through reference in this Standard. For dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard, however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.
