This Standard replaces GB/T 4501-2008 "Endurance test for truck and bus tyres - Drum method". Compared with GB/T 4501-2008, main technical changes of this Standard are as follows. - MODIFY the expression of normative references (see Chapter 2 of this edition; Chapter 2 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY the description of plunger material of strength tester, from “metal” to “steel” (see 4.2.1 of this edition; 4.2.1 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY the precision of filling pressure gauge, from “precision is ± 20 kPa” to “precision is ± 10 kPa” (see 4.3 of this edition; 4.3 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY the plunger diameter for strength test of truck and bus tyres (see Table 2 of this edition; Table 2 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY the requirements for the test rim (see 5.1.1.2, 5.2.1.2 and 5.3.1.2 of this edition; 5.1.1.2, 5.2.1.2 and 5.3.1.2 of 2008 edition); - ADD the endurance test conditions of radial tyres with the maximum load rating of a single tyre > 1500 kg and the speed symbol of N and P, and diagonal tyres with the maximum load rating of a single tyre > 1500 kg and the speed symbol of L (see Table 3 of this edition; Table 3 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY Note 2 of Endurance Test Conditions of Truck and Bus Tyres (Table 3), FROM “It is for the tyres of which the nominal section width is ≥ 13.00 and maximum speed is 70 km/h. Test drum speed shall be 30 km/h for test.” TO “For tyres with the maximum load rating of a single tyre > 1500 kg, and the maximum speed is ≤ 70 km/h, test drum speed shall be 30 km/h for test.” (see Table 3 of this edition; Table 3 of 2008 edition); - ADD Note 3 of Endurance Test Conditions of Truck and Bus Tyres (Table 3), “For radial tyres with the maximum load rating a single tyre > 1500 kg, and the maximum speed is ≥ 160 km/h, test drum speed shall be 110 km/h for test.” (see Table 3 of this edition; Table 3 of 2008 edition); - DELETE the content of measuring the main dimensions of tyres after staying in endurance test (see 5.1.2.1 of 2008 edition); - MODIFY the inspection procedure after the completion of endurance test (see 5.1.2.5 of this edition; 5.1.2.5 of 2008 edition); For the convenience of use, the following editorial changes are made in this Standard. a) MODIFY the standard name; b) DELETE the Bibliography of the international standard. This Standard was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 19 on Tyre and Rim of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 19). Laboratory Test Methods for Truck and Bus Tyres Capabilities 1 Scope This Standard specifies test methods for verifying the capabilities of tyres for truck and bus, including terms and definitions, test equipment and precision, test conditions, test procedure, judgment criterion and test report, etc. In the test methods given, only some may be required depending on the type of tyre to be tested. This Standard includes. (1) Endurance test — test the endurance capability of tyres by the travel distance under specified load and speed; (2) High speed test — test the capability of the tyre according to its speed symbol; (3) Strength test — test the capability of the tyre structure with respect to braking energy of tread cap. The test methods presented in this Standard are suitable for grading of tyre capabilities or quality levels. This Standard is applicable to new pneumatic tyres of truck and bus. 2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 2977 Size designation, dimensions, inflation pressure and load capacity for truck tyres GB/T 6326 Tyre terms and definitions (GB/T 6326-2005, ISO 4223-1.2002, Definitions of some terms used in tyre industry - Part 1. Pneumatic tyres, NEQ) GB 9744 Truck tyres conditions of both single tire and twin tires are specified, take the maximum load rating of single tire as final). 5.1.1.3 Maintain the tyre and rim assembly at ambient temperature of 38°C ± 3°C for at least 3 h. 5.1.1.4 The test drum shall be started at uniform acceleration to the initial test speed within 5 min. 5.1.1.5 Endurance test conditions of tyres at each speed rating shall meet those specified in Table 3. 5.1.2 Test procedure 5.1.2.1 Re-adjust the tyre pressure to the value specified in 5.1.1.2. 5.1.2.2 Mount the tyre and rim assembly on a test axle so that the tyre may be pressed radially against the outer face of the test drum. 5.1.2.3 During the test, the ambient temperature shall be maintained at 38°C ± 3°C. 5.1.2.4 Conduct the test in accordance with those specified in Table 3. Conduct test according to specified procedure. In each successive phase of the test, without interruption, re-adjust the pneumatic pressure and cool down tyre artificially, and the test loads shall be maintained constant. 5.1.2.5 After test is completed according to the specified procedures, cool the test tyre down naturally for 15 min ~ 25 min, measure the pneumatic pressure during this specified duration. Dismantle the tyre after complete cooling. Carry out appearance inspection.
