Household and similar electrical washing machine
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, product categories, technical
requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks, packaging, transportation
and storage of household and similar electrical washing machines (hereinafter
referred to as “washing-machines”).
This Standard applies to the washing machines (including extractors) of which
the single-phase rated voltage is not more than 250V, used by non-
professionals in the households, stores, schools, etc.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Household electric washing machine
It refers to the power-driven appliance relying on mechanical action for clothes
washing.
Note. According to the basic categories, electric washing machines are divided into.
washing machine – washing machine that needs to be manually switched to the functional operations
of washing, rinsing and extracting;
semi-automatic washing machine – washing machine with the functional operations of washing, rinsing
and extracting, and any two functions above are conducted automatically without
manual operation;
automatic washing machine – washing machine that can automatically switch to the functional
operations of washing, rinsing and extracting without manual operation;
mini washing machine – washing machine with the rated washing capacity of no more than 1.5kg; and
multi-drum washing machine – washing machine equipped with two or more drums that can be used
for washing, and at least some of them shall have standard washing program for
cotton textile washing.
3.2 Extractor
It refers to the appliance relying on mechanical action for water removal in the
washings.
3.2.1 Spin extractor
It refers to the appliance relying on centrifugal force for water removal in the
washings.
3.2.2 Device of extractor
It refers to the device that, combined with the washing machine, is used for
water removal relying on centrifugal force or pressure.
3.3 Washing container capacity
It refers to the washing container capacity of the washing machine, measured
according to the test methods given in the Appendix B.
Note. The ratings of the washing container capacity are declared by manufacturers.
3.4 Rated capacity
It refers to the maximum mass of the dry and standard cotton washing textile
that can be processed by the washing machine at one time.
Note 1. The manufacturers shall mark the rated capacity or the capacity of other types of textile in 0.1kg
intervals; and the types of textile must be indicated accordingly, such as wool, etc.
Note 2. The capacity of any other type of textile indicated on the appliance shall not exceed the rated
capacity.
Note 3. For the multi-drum washing machines whose washing containers can work simultaneously, the
sum of all drum capacities shall be indicated; for the multi-drum washing machines whose
washing containers cannot work simultaneously, the drum capacity shall be indicated separately.
3.4.1 Rated washing capacity
It refers to the rated capacity that the washing machine can wash at one time.
3.4.2 Rated spinning capacity
4 Product classification
The product classification and model designation of the washing-machine are
given in Appendix A.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 Overview
The washing-machines shall meet the following requirements.
The multi-drum washing-machines shall respectively meet the following
requirements. ASSESS the sections marked with standard program only; and
ASSESS other sections according to their nominal textile washing programs.
5.1.2 Working conditions
Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, the operation shall be
conducted according to the following conditions.
a) The ambient temperature shall be within the range of 0°C ~ 40°C;
b) The relative humidity of the air shall be below 95% (at the temperature of
25°C).
5.2 Power supply and trial run
The washing-machines use single-phase AC power supply. The rated voltage
is within the range of 220V ~ 250V. The rated frequency is 50Hz (except for
special requirements). After operating according to the requirements specified
in the product instruction manual for washing-machines, the washing-machines
shall be able to start operation, and realize the functions described in the
product instruction manual (if the technical requirements with regard to these
functions have not been specified in this Standard, the provisions specified in
the corresponding national standards, industrial standards or recorded
enterprise product standards can be executed instead).
