Colour fastness to rubbing. This Standard is formulated according to ISO 105-X12. 2001. Compared with ISO 105-X12. 2001, the differences of this Standard are as follows. 1. In the normative references, the Chinese standards corresponding to international standards are quoted. In which, GB/T 7565 replaces ISO 105-F09. 2. Note of AATCC instrument is added in 4.1.2; 3. Proposed waterproof polishing paper specification is added in 4.3 notes; 4. The specific temperature and humidity provisions of conditioning treatment are deleted. It directly quote the provisions of GB/T 6529 in which the temperature and humidity are the same; 5. The calibration test in 4.4 is adjusted to be content of notes; 6. For sample that has little colour area and runs together, add "Refer to the provisions of this clause" in 6.1; 7. Add note 2 in 6.3; 8. Add clause D in Chapter 8. This Standard replaces GB/T 3920 1997 Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Colour fastness to rubbing. The major differences are as follows. 1. Add GB/T 6529 and ISO 105-X16 in normative references. 2. Add the rubbing cloth dimension, round friction head dimension as well as friction head pressure margin tolerance; 3. Change the rectangle rubbing head dimension from 19mm×25mm to 19mm× 25.4mm; 4. Change the rubbing head movement from 100mm to 104±3 mm; 5. Change the sample size from 50mm×200mm to not-less-than 50mm× 140mm; 6. Add the optional samples that is cut at certain angle to fabric’s warp direction or weft direction; 7. Add the description of small area printing sample; Textiles - Tests for colour fastness – Colour fastness to rubbing 1    Scope  This Standard specifies a test method for determining the colour fastness to rubbing of various types. This Standard is applicable to textiles made from all fibers in the form of yarn or fabric, including textile floor coverings, whether dyed or printed. Two tests may be made, one with a dry rubbing cloth and one with a wet rubbing cloth. 2    Normative references  The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments or revisions of these publications do not apply. However, parties who enter into agreements based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies. Colour fastness to rubbing - Small areas 3    Principle    Specimens of the textile are rubbed with a dry rubbing cloth and with a wet rubbing cloth. Weigh a conditioned piece of cloth. Thoroughly soak in distilled water. Reweigh the rubbing cloth its moisture rate to be 95 % ~ 100 %. The follow the instructions in 6.2. Note 1. As the level of soak of the rubbing cloth may dramatically affect ratings, other moisture rate may be used. An example of a very commonly used moisture rate is (65 ± 5) %. Note 2. It may use adjustable liquid removal system or other proper device to adjust the moisture percentage of rubbing cloth. 6.4 Drying Air dry the test cloth. 7    Evaluation  7.1 Place 3 layers of rubbing cloth on the back of each rubbing cloth to be evaluated, while evaluating (4.2). 7.2 Assess the staining of the cotton rubbing cloths with the grey scale for staining (4.4), under suitable illumination (see GB/T 6151). 8    Test Report  The test report shall contain the following information. a) Number of this Standard i.e., GB/T 3920-2008; b) The rubbing finger used in the test; c) Whether it is dry or wet rubbing. If wet rubbing, indicate the moisture rate; d) Metal net, or waterproof fine abrasive paper and its specifications; e) The conditioning time of the specimens and rubbing cloth; f) The long direction of the specimen, i.e., warp, weft or oblique; g) The numerical rating for staining for each test specimen. ......
