Insulating coatings for the electrical steel strip (sheet)
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and code,
testing items and test methods of insulating coatings for the electrical steel strip
(sheet).
This Standard is applicable to the insulating coating that is formed by coating
on the surface of cold-rolled electrical steel strip (sheet) and surface oxidation
through inorganic components, organic components and their compound
preparation.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 insulating coatings for the electrical steel strip (sheet)
a coating that in order to prevent or reduce the short circuit between the core
laminations and increase the eddy current loss, a layer of insulating properties
is coated on the surface of the cold-rolled electrical steel strip (sheet)
3.2 coated insulation resistance
when applying a certain DC voltage to the surface of the cold-rolled electrical
steel strip (sheet) coating, the resistance corresponding to the current flowing
through the coating
NOTE: Coated insulation resistance is divided into surface insulation resistance
(Ω·mm2/face) and interlayer resistance (Ω·mm2/sheet).
4 Classification and code
The code of insulating coatings for the electrical steel strip (sheet) is composed
in the order given below. The classification and code of the insulating coating
are shown in Table 1. Refer to Annex A for domestic and foreign coating
classification and code comparison.
Example:
DJ-3-Z indicates that the type of insulating coating for the electrical steel strip
(sheet) is 3, with high surface insulation resistance, which can greatly improve
the punching performance of the steel strip.
