GB/T 38750.1-2020 NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA ICS 27.020 J 91 Reciprocating internal combustion engine energy efficiency evaluating specifications - Part 1: Diesel engines ISSUED ON: APRIL 28, 2020 IMPLEMENTED ON: NOVEMBER 01, 2020 Issued by: State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China. Table of Contents Foreword ... 3  1 Scope ... 4  2 Normative references ... 4  3 Terms and definitions ... 4  4 Technical requirements ... 5  5 Measurement method ... 6  Reciprocating internal combustion engine energy efficiency evaluating specifications - Part 1: Diesel engines 1 Scope This Part of GB/T 38750 specifies the energy efficiency evaluating specifications and measurement methods for non-road diesel engines and light- duty vehicle diesel engines. This Part applies to diesel engines for non-road diesel engines and light-duty vehicles (including light passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) below 560 kW. 2 Normative references The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document. GB/T 18297-2001, Performance test code for road vehicle engines GB 20891-2014, Limits and measurement methods for exhaust pollutants from diesel engines of non-road mobile machinery (CHINA III, IV) GB/T 28239-2020, Limits and measurement methods for non-road diesel engine specific fuel consumption and specific oil consumption 3 Terms and definitions Terms and definitions determined by GB/T 28239-2020 and the following ones are applicable to this document. 3.1 Light-duty vehicle M1, M2 and N1 vehicles (including light passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) whose maximum total mass does not exceed 3 500 kg. 3.2 Evaluating values of energy conservation for diesel engines Under the test conditions that are stipulated in this Part, the average fuel consumption rate under multiple working conditions that a diesel engine, whose energy efficiency indexes meet the energy conservation requirements, shall reach. 4 Technical requirements 4.1 Emission requirements The emission of pollutants from non-road diesel engines and diesel engine- supported light-duty vehicles shall comply with relevant national standards. 4.2 Diesel engine energy efficiency grades The diesel engine energy efficiency is divided into 3 grades, of which grade 1 is the highest. 4.3 Evaluating values of energy conservation for diesel engines The evaluating values of energy conservation for diesel engines that meet the energy-saving requirements are the prescribed values of grade 2 in Table 1 and Table 2. 4.4 Average fuel consumption of diesel engines The weighted fuel consumption rate of non-road diesel engines of various grades of energy efficiency shall be less than or equal to the value that is specified in Table 1; the limits of air-cooled diesel engines and condensing diesel engines are allowed to increase by 4%. The average fuel consumption rate under the 5 working conditions of light-duty vehicle diesel engines of each grade of energy efficient shall be less than or equal to the value that is specified in Table 2. For the diesel engines that are not listed in Table 2, the specified value of each energy efficiency grade can be determined by linear interpolation. For non-road diesel engines, the manufacturer can choose to limit the diesel engine family to a power range, and verify the weighted fuel consumption rate of the power range of diesel engine family. For diesel engines in the same family, it is allowed to select a representative model as the source engine for measurement and evaluation. For the definition of non-road diesel engine family and source engine, see 3.8 and 3.9 in GB 20891-2014; for the determination of parameters of diesel engine family and the selection of source engine, see the provisions of Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 in GB 20891-2014. For the equipment and auxiliary devices that shall be installed when measuring the total power of non-road diesel engines, see Pi – the power under each working condition, in kilowatts (kW). 5.5.1.2 The weighted fuel consumption rate shall be based on the low heating value of 42 700 kJ/kg. When the low heating value of the fuel that is used in the test is inconsistent with it, it shall be converted according to Formula (2): Where: gew – weighted fuel consumption rate that is calibrated at a low calorific value of 42 700 kJ/kg, in grams per kilowatt hour [g/(kW·h)]; gewf -- the weighted fuel consumption rate that is measured during the test, in grams per kilowatt hour [g/(kW·h)]; Hub -- the low calorific value of basic fuel, namely 42 700 kJ/kg; Huf -- the low calorific value of the fuel that is used in the test measurement, in kilojoules per kilogram (kJ/kg). 5.5.2 Calculation of the average fuel consumption rate of light-duty vehicle diesel engine under 5 working conditions 5.5.2.1 When the diesel engine is measured in a non-standard environment, its fuel consumption rate is not corrected. 5.5.2.2 The average fuel consumption rate ge of the diesel engine under 5 working conditions is calculated according to Formula (3): Where: ge – the average fuel consumption rate that is calibrated at the low heating value of 42 700 kJ/kg under 5 working conditions, in grams per kilowatt hour [g/(kW·h)]; G1 – the fuel consumption per hour under the working condition of (1 200 r/min, 0.15 MPa), in grams per hour (g/h); G2 – fuel consumption per hour under the working condition of (1 500 r/min, 0.25 MPa), in grams per hour (g/h); G3 – fuel consumption per hour under the working condition of (2 000 r/min, 0.2 MPa), in grams per hour (g/h); ......
