Toxic classification 1 Scope This Part of GB/T 34710 specifies the method for toxic classification of mixture gas. This Part applies to the toxic classification of mixture gas. 2 Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 2.1 Lethal concentration 50 The concentration of the gas in the air which can cause the tested mice to die half in 14 d after being continuously inhaled by healthy male and female adult white mice for 1 h. 2.2 Toxic gases The gas with a LC50 value not more than 5000×10-6 (volume fraction). 3 Abbreviations The following abbreviations apply to this document. Lethal concentration 50 4 Toxic classification of mixture gas The toxic classification of mixture gas shall comply with the provisions of Table 1. Table 1 -- Toxic classification of mixture gas b) Determination of toxicity. Since the LC50 value of the mixture gas is 1780000×10-6 (volume fraction), according to Table 1, the toxicity of this mixture gas is Class 1. non-toxic. 6.3 The LC50 value of the mixture gas having a sulfur dioxide content of 500×10- 6 (volume fraction), a nitrogen dioxide content of 500×10-6 (volume fraction), and nitrogen is calculated; and the toxicity is determined. a) Calculation steps. The toxic gases in the mixture gas is sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. According to Appendix A, the LC50 value of sulfur dioxide is 2520×10-6 (volume fraction); and the LC50 value of nitrogen dioxide is 115×10-6 (volume fraction). Calculate according to formula (1) as follows. b) Determination of toxicity. Since the LC50 value of the mixture gas is 220000×10-6 (volume fraction), according to Table 1, the toxicity of this mixture gas is Class 1. non-toxic. 6.4 The LC50 value of the mixture gas having a boron trichloride content of 12×10-2 (volume fraction), a chlorine gas content of 8×10-2 (volume fraction), and argon is calculated; and the toxicity is determined. a) Calculation steps. The toxic gases in the mixture gas is boron trichloride and chlorine gas. According to Appendix A, the LC50 value of boron trichloride is 2541×10-6 (volume fraction); and the LC50 value of chlorine gas is 293×10-6 (volume fraction). Calculate according to formula (1) as follows. b) Determination of toxicity. Since the LC50 value of the mixture gas is 312.2×10-6 (volume fraction), according to Table 1, the toxicity of this mixture gas is Class 2. toxic. (Volume fraction) (Volume fraction) (Volume fraction) ......
