Soft magnetic alloys - Part 1: Nickel-iron alloys
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 32286 specifies the classification, order content, dimensions,
appearance, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking
and quality certification for nickel-iron soft magnetic alloy materials.
This Part applies to cold-rolled strips, cold-drawn wires, cold-drawn (rolled) pipes, hot-
rolled (forged) rods and flat bars of higher permeability and higher saturation magnetic
induction intensity nickel-iron alloys 1J46, 1J50, 1J54 and high permeability nickel-
iron alloys 1J76, 1J77, 1J79, 1J80, 1J85, 1J86; cold-rolled sheets of high permeability
nickel-iron alloys 1J79 and 1J85; cold-rolled strips of nickel-iron rectangular magnetic
alloys 1J34, 1J51, 1J52, 1J65, 1J67, 1J83, 1J403; cold-rolled strips of magnetic
temperature compensation nickel-iron alloys 1J30, 1J31, 1J32, 1J33, 1J38; and cold-
rolled strips of permanent permeability nickel-iron alloy 1J66.
This Part does not apply to high hardness, high resistance and high permeability nickel-
iron alloy materials, corrosion-resistant nickel-iron alloys and nickel-iron alloy
materials for magnetic heads (hereinafter referred to as alloy materials).

3 Classification
3.1 Classified into the following five categories by the main characteristics:
a) Higher permeability and higher saturation magnetic induction intensity nickel-
iron alloys;
b) High permeability nickel-iron alloys;
c) Rectangular nickel-iron alloys;
d) Magnetic temperature compensation nickel-iron alloys;
e) Permanent permeability nickel-iron alloys.
3.2 Classified into the following four categories by the nickel content:
a) E1: Nickel-iron alloys containing 72% ~ 83% nickel;
b) E2: Nickel-iron alloys containing 54% ~ 68% nickel;
c) E3: Nickel-iron alloys containing 45% ~ 51% nickel;
d) E4: Nickel-iron alloys containing 30% ~ 40% nickel.
4 Order content
The contract for ordering under this Part shall include the following:
a) Product designation;
b) Part number;
c) Specifications;
d) Weight (or quantity);
e) Delivery state;
f) Items or indicators negotiated by the supplier and the buyer and specified in the
contract (if not specified, it shall be determined by the supplier);
g) Special requirements (if necessary).
Where:
μLmax – the maximum value among the five inductive permeabilities μL, in millihenry
per meter (mH/m);
μLmin – the minimum value among the five inductive permeabilities μL, in millihenry
per meter (mH/m).
b) Determination of AC/DC stable value α≃: The measurement frequency is 60 Hz. The
magnetic induction intensity B of AC magnetization is 0.03 T.
Calculate the AC/DC stable value α≃ based on Formula (2):
Where:
μL – inductive permeability measured under AC magnetic field intensity, in
millihenry per meter (mH/m);
μL56 – inductive permeability when a DC magnetic field of 56 A/m is added to the
AC magnetic field strength, in millihenry per meter (mH/m).
c) Determination of temperature stable value αT: The measurement frequency is 60 Hz.
The magnetic induction intensity B of AC magnetization is 0.03 T. Measure the
inductive permeability μL at 90 ℃, room temperature (10 ℃ ~ 30 ℃) and -60 ℃.
Select the larger of (μL90 ℃ - μLroom)/μLroom and (μLroom - μL-60℃)/μLroom as the
temperature stable value.
8 Inspection rules
8.1 Inspection and acceptance
The inspection and acceptance of alloy materials shall be carried out by the supplier's
quality and technical supervision department.
8.2 Batch rules
Alloy materials shall be submitted for inspection and acceptance in batches. Each batch
shall consist of alloy materials of the same designation, same furnace number, same
specification and same delivery state.
