The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For
the dated reference documents, only the dated versions apply to this document. For
the undated reference documents, the latest versions (including all amendments)
apply to this document.
GB/T 2900.41 Electrotechnical terminology - Primary and secondary cells and
batteries
GB/T 19596 Terminology of electric vehicles
3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions AND those specified in GB/T 2900.41 and GB/T
19596 apply to this Standard.
3.1
secondary cell
A basic unit device composed of electrode, membrane, electrolyte, case and terminal
which can directly transform chemical energy into power energy and be charged.
3.2
battery module
A power supply combination of one or more secondary cell(s) which are connected in
series or in parallel or both series and parallel with only one pair of positive and
negative output terminals.
3.3
battery pack
A unit usually consisting of battery module, battery management module (without
BCU), accumulator box and corresponding accessories, which can get electric energy
from the outside and output electric energy to the outside.
3.4
battery system
A energy storage equipment consisting of one or more than one battery pack(s) and
corresponding accessories (management system, high voltage circuit, low voltage
circuit, thermal management system, mechanical assembly, etc.).
3.5
rated capacity
The capacity (Ah) released FROM the time when fully charged traction battery is
discharged at the current of 1I1 (A) TO the time when it reaches to the final voltage
under room temperature.
3.6
rated energy
The energy (Wh) released FROM the time when fully charged traction battery is
discharged at the current of 1I1 (A) TO the time when it reaches to the final voltage
under room temperature.
3.7
initial capacity
The capacity (Ah) released FROM the time when fully charged power traction battery,
which is fresh from the factory, is discharged at the current of 1I1 (A) under room
temperature TO the time when it reaches to the terminal discharging condition as
specified by factory.
3.8
initial energy
The energy (Wh) released FROM the time when fully charged power traction battery,
which is fresh from the factory, is discharged at the current of 1I1 (A) under room
0.05I1 (A), stop charging. After charging, put it aside for 1 h (or less than 1 h as
specified by the manufacturer);
b) For the metal hydride nickel battery, charge it at the constant current of 1I1 (A)
for 1 h and then charge it at the constant current of 0.2I1 (A) for 1 h. After
charging, put it aside for 1 h (or less than 1 h as specified by the manufacturer).
6.1.1.4 Test method for capacity and energy.
a) DISCHARGE at 1I1 (A) current until it reaches to the discharge termination
condition specified by the manufacturer;
b) PUT it aside for 30 min or for the put-aside time specified by the manufacturer
(no longer than 60 min);
c) CHARGE according to the method in 6.1.1.3;
d) PUT it aside for 30 min or for the put-aside time specified by the manufacturer
(no longer than 60 min);
e) DISCHARGE at 1I1 (A) current until it reaches to the discharge termination
condition specified by the manufacturer;
f) CALCULATE the discharge capacity (in Ah) and discharge energy (in Wh) in step
e).
6.1.1.5 Method for adjusting SOC to the test target value n%.
a) CHARGE according to the method in 6.1.1.3;
b) PUT it aside for 30 min or for the put-aside time specified by the manufacturer
(no longer than 60 min);
c) DISCHARGE at constant current of 1Inl (A) for (100-n)/100 h.
6.1.1.6 Test method for power.
a) ADJUST SOC of test sample to 50% according to the method in 6.1.1.5;
b) PUT it aside for 30 min;
c) DISCHARGE at the maximum current specified by the manufacturer for 5 s.
After test, DISCHARGE at current of 1I1 (A) until it reaches to the discharge
termination condition specified by the manufacturer;
d) CALCULATE the power (W) of the last data collection point in step c).
6.1.1.7 In this Standard, tests for capacity and energy under room temperature (6.2)
and power under room temperature (6.3) are applicable to secondary cell, module or
system; standard cycle life (6.4) test is applicable to secondary cell or module; and
operating-condition cycle life (6.5) test is applicable to battery module or system.
6.1.1.8 The discharge current symbol of traction battery is positive; the charge current
symbol is negative.
6.1.2 Requirements for the precision of measuring instrument and apparatus
The precision of measuring instrument and apparatus shall meet the following
requirements.
- Voltage measuring device. not lower than 0.5 grade;
- Current measuring device. not lower than 0.5 grade;
- Temperature measuring device. ± 0.5°C;
- Time measuring device. ± 0.1%;
- Dimension measuring device. ± 0.1%;
- Mass measuring device. ± 0.1%.
6.2 Capacity and energy under room temperature (initial capacity and energy)
Under room temperature, test capacity and energy for 5 times according to the
method in 6.1.1.4. If the range of 3 continuous test results is lower than 3% of the
rated capacity, the test can be terminated in advance. TAKE the average value of the
last 3 tests results.
