Extruded tube of titanium and titanium alloys
1 Scope
This Standard specifies requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marks,
packaging, transport, storage, quality certificate and contract (or order sheet)
content for extruded tube of titanium and titanium alloys.
This Standard is applicable to titanium and titanium alloy seamless tubes
produced by extrusion for various purposes.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.
GB/T 228, Metallic materials - Tensile test method at room temperature
GB/T 3620.1, Designation and Composition of Titanium and Titanium Alloys
GB/T 3620.2, Titanium and titanium alloys - permissible variations of
chemical composition for wrought product analysis

3 Requirements
3.1 Product classification
3.1.1 Product designation, status and specification
The designation, supply status, specification as well as the maximum length
when specifying outer diameter and wall thickness for extruded tube of titanium
and titanium alloys shall comply with Table 1 and Table 2.
Table 6 -- Shearing oblique
mm
3.4.5 The tube shall be straight. The curvature of the tube with an outer diameter
not greater than 180mm shall not be more than 6mm/m. The curvature of the
tube with an outer diameter greater than 180mm is determined by the supplier
and the purchaser through negotiation.
3.5 Appearance quality
3.5.1 The inner and outer surfaces of the tube are allowed to have slight
scratches, pits, bumps, pock marks and other defects that do not exceed half
of the allowable deviation of its wall thickness (for alloy tubes, it shall not exceed
the allowable deviation of wall thickness).
3.5.2 The inner and outer surfaces of the tube shall be clean. Cracks, folds,
inclusions and other defects are not allowed. Allow to clean up local defects.
The cleaning depth shall not exceed half of the allowable deviation of its wall
thickness (for alloy tubes, it shall not exceed the allowable deviation of wall
thickness).
3.5.3 Different colors are allowed after the tube is pickled.
4 Inspection methods
4.1 Analysis method for chemical composition
The analysis method for chemical composition of tubes shall be in accordance
with GB/T 4698.
4.2 Inspection method for mechanical properties
The mechanical performance test at room temperature is carried out according
to GB/T 228. For tubes with a wall thickness of 4mm~< 6mm, use S1 or S2
sample. For tubes with a wall thickness 6mm~< 8mm, use R8 sample. For tubes
with a wall thickness not less than 8mm, use R7 sample.
4.3 Measurement methods for size and allowable deviation
Outer diameter Shearing oblique, not greater than

quality Piece by piece 3.5 4.4
5.4 Determination of inspection results
5.4.1 When chemical composition fails, this batch of products shall be rejected.
5.4.2 In the mechanical performance test at room temperature, if one sample
result fails, then take another double-samples from the batch of products to
repeat the inspection on the failed item. If there is still a sample result fails in
the repeated inspection, this batch of products shall be rejected. However, the
supplier is allowed to inspect fails items one by one. Only accepted products
are re-batched for delivery.
5.4.3 When size and allowable deviation, appearance quality fail, the single
piece shall be rejected.
6 Packaging, marks, transport and storage as well as
quality certificate
6.1 Marks
The following marks shall be marked on the conforming tubes and packaging
boxes:
a) Product designation;
b) Smelting furnace number or batch number;
c) Status;
d) Reference to this Standard.
6.2 Packaging, transport and storage
The packaging, transport and storage of tubes shall comply with relevant
provisions of GB/T 8180.
6.3 Quality certificate
Each batch of tubes shall be attached with quality certificate, indicating:
a) Supplier’s name;
b) Product name;
