Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives
for Standardization - Part 1: Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This document is Part 4 of GB/T 24721 Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic Product for Highway.
GB/T 24721 has issued the following parts:
---Part 1: General Rule;
---Part 2: Trunk;
---Part 3: Duct;
---Part 4: Non-pressure Communications Well Lid;
---Part 5: Sign Base Panel.
This document serves as a replacement of GB/T 24721.4-2009 Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic
Product for Highway - Part 4: Non-pressure Communications Well Lid. In comparison with
GB/T 24721.4-2009, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main
technical changes are as follows:
a) The definitions of the terms “total clearance” and “clear opening of well lid” are
modified (see 3.4 and 3.6; 3.4 and 3.6 of Version 2009);
b) The product classification is deleted (see 4.1 of Version 2009);
c) The expression method of product model is modified (see 4.2; 4.3 of Version 2009);
d) The requirements for the properties of raw materials are deleted (see 5.1.1 of Version
2009);
e) The technical requirements for the appearance quality are modified (see 5.1; 5.1.2 of
Version 2009);
f) The technical requirements and test methods for flame retardancy are modified (see
Table 2 and 6.7.3; Table 2 and 6.5.3.3 of Version 2009);
g) The technical requirements and test methods for smoke density are added (see Table
2 and 6.7.4);
h) The technical requirements and test methods for artificial accelerated aging resistance
(fluorescent ultraviolet light source) are added (see Table 2 and 6.11.4);
i) The technical requirements for natural exposure resistance are modified (see Table 2;
Table 2 in 5.2 of Version 2009);

4: Non-pressure Communication Well Lid
1 Scope
This document specifies the structure, dimensions and deviations, model, technical
requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and
storage requirements of glass fiber reinforced plastic non-pressure communication well lid
products for highway.
This document is applicable to the production, inspection and usage of glass fiber reinforced
plastic non-pressure communication well lid (hereinafter referred to as “glass fiber reinforced
communication well lid”) for non-vehicle driving areas on highways.
2 Normative References
The contents of the following documents constitute indispensable clauses of this document
through the normative references in the text. In terms of references with a specified date, only
versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a
specified date, the latest version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 communication well lid
Communication well lid refers to a closure with openable communication well head.
NOTE: it is composed of a support (mouth ring) and a well lid.
3.2 seating
Seating refers to a part fixed at the well head for placing and supporting the well lid.
3.3 depth of insertion
Depth of insertion refers to the distance from the bearing surface to the top surface of the
support.
6.2 Reagents
In accordance with the method of 6.2 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.3 Test Instruments and Equipment
In accordance with the method of 6.3 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.4 Specimen
6.4.1 General requirements
In accordance with the method of 6.4 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.4.2 Special stipulations
When it is impossible to prepare specimens on the finished product, the same raw materials and
the same process method as the product shall be used to prepare specimens with a uniform
planar structure and a thickness of 5.0 mm  0.2 mm. There are no special restrictions on the
size of the specimens, but at least it shall be guaranteed that 200 mm  200 mm test pieces can
be punched and sheared, and the total area of the specimens shall not be less than 0.24 m2.
The preparation of flexural strength specimens shall also include the same number of
comparative specimens with the properties retention rate of water resistance, damp heat
resistance and weather resistance.
6.5 Structures and Dimensions
6.5.1 Nominal outer diameter or side length of well lid
Use a steel ruler or steel tape with a division value of 1 mm to conduct the measurement. On
the surface of the well lid, uniformly measure-take 3 diameter values or 3 side length values of
length and width; take the arithmetic mean as the measurement result.
6.5.2 Insertion depth of well lid
Use a depth gauge with a division value not greater than 0.02 mm to measure the insertion depth
of the well lid at two mutually perpendicular axes; take the arithmetic mean of 4 values as the
measurement result.
6.5.3 Total clearance of well lid
Use a steel ruler or steel tape with a division value of 1 mm to measure the diameter of side
length of two mutually perpendicular holes on the support; take the arithmetic mean as the
measurement result, then, subtract the nominal outer diameter or corresponding side length of
the well lid to obtain the total clearance.
6.5.4 Width of bearing surface
Use a caliper with a division value not greater than 0.02 mm to measure the width of the bearing
surface at two mutually perpendicular axes of the support.
6.5.5 Contact surface height of well lid
Use a depth gauge with a division value not greater than 0.02 mm to measure the height of the
contact surface at two mutually perpendicular axes of the well lid; take the arithmetic mean of
4 values as the measurement result.
6.6 Appearance Quality
In accordance with the method of 6.5 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test. For the raised
height of the anti-skip patterns, use a depth gauge with a division value not greater than 0.02
mm to measure any 3 points; take the arithmetic mean as the measurement result.
6.7 General Physical and Mechanical Properties
6.7.1 Density
In accordance with the method of 6.6.5 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.7.2 Barcol hardness
In accordance with the method of 6.6.6 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.7.3 Flame-retardancy
In accordance with the method of 6.7 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.7.4 Smoke density
In accordance with the method of 6.8 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.8 Overall Bearing Capacity
In accordance with the method of Appendix A, conduct the test.
6.9 Water Resistance
In accordance with the method of 6.10 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.10 Resistance to Chemical Media
In accordance with the method of 6.11 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
6.11 Environmental Adaptability
6.11.1 Damp heat resistance
In accordance with the method of 6.12.1 in GB/T 24721.1-2023, conduct the test.
