1 Scope
This Standard specifies the principle, instruments, samples, test procedure,
and result calculation of the determination of specific resistance of coke.
This Standard applies to the determination of specific resistance of coke,
graphite, roasted crushed and calcined anthracite.

3 Principle
PUT a dry sample of a certain particle size into the sample tank, PASS a certain
intensity of current under a certain pressure, MEASURE the voltage drop at the
two ends of the sample, and CALCULATE the specific resistance of the sample
according to Ohm’s law.
4 Instruments
4.1 Specific resistance tester (see Figure 1).

6.2 Measurement of the line voltage drop: PLACE the upper movable column
directly on the lower movable column, HANG the weights, TURN the handle
clockwise to make the lever level, ADJUST the line current to 300 mA, and
RECORD the voltmeter reading V0 (the reading shall be less than 1 mV,
otherwise twist the upper movable column or gently sand the contact surface
of the upper and lower movable columns with sandpaper to remove the oxide
film, so that the line voltage drops below 1 mV).
6.3 Determination of the position of the spiral micrometer barrel: PLACE the
standard steel column between the upper and lower movable columns, HANG
the weights, TURN the handle clockwise to make the lever level, ADJUST the
position of 16.0 of the spiral micrometer barrel to make it align with the pointer,
TIGHTEN the jackscrew on the spiral micrometer barrel to make the spiral
micrometer barrel fixed; TURN the handle counterclockwise two turns, and then
TURN the handle clockwise again to make the lever level, and CHECK whether
the spiral micrometer barrel is in the correct position .
6.4 ALIGN the score line on the sample tank with the upper edge of the
orientation circle, TIGHTEN the jackscrew, and PLACE it on the lower movable
column; PLACE the funnel on the sample tank; MEASURE the sample with a
measuring cup, and slowly POUR it into the funnel, making the sample enter
the sample tank in about 20 s.
6.5 REMOVE the funnel, TURN the handle so that the pointer points to the
position where the 16.0 mm of the spiral micro barrel is after it rotates
counterclockwise two turns, carefully PLACE the upper movable column,
CONNECT the lever, HANG the weights, slowly ROTATE the handle half a turn
clockwise at a uniform speed, UNSCREW the jackscrew on the orientation
circle, the weights shall sink slightly, and continue to slowly ROTATE the handle
clockwise at a uniform speed until the lever is level.
6.6 ADJUST the line current to 300 mA, RECORD the reading of the voltmeter,
READ and RECORD the height of the sample from the position pointed by the
pointer of the spiral micrometer barrel.
