Foreword
GB/T 23711, Test method for pressure vessels lined with plastics, is divided into
8 parts:
-- Part 1: Spark testing;
-- Part 2: Low-temperature testing;
-- Part 3: High-temperature inspection;
-- Part 4: Negative pressure inspection;
-- Part 5: Cold-hot cycling inspection;
-- Part 6: Anti pressure testing;
-- Part 7: Leak testing;
-- Part 8: High-resistance testing.
This Part is the 5th part of GB/T 23711.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 23711.5-2009, Expansion and contraction test
method for pressure vessels lined with fluoroplastics; compared with GB/T
23711.5-2009, the main technical changes, except editorial changes, are as
follows:
-- In "Scope", add plastic lining materials such as rigid polyvinyl chloride
(PVC-U), chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C), polyethylene (PE) (see
Chapter 1);
-- Modify the schematic diagram of the testing machine (see Figure 1, Figure
1 of version 2009);
-- Add requirements for safety protection of the testing machine (see 3.2);
-- Add requirements for the sample dimensions (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of
version 2009);
-- Remove requirements for the thermometer and the operating temperature
of the to-be-inspected pressure vessel (see 5.2 of version 2009);
-- Add the heating temperature of plastic lining materials such as PVC-U,
PVC-C and PE (see Table 1, Table 1 of version 2009);
Test method for pressure vessels lined with plastics -
Part 5: Cold-hot cycling inspection
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 23711 specifies the test device, sample, test method, test
result judgment and test report of the cold-hot cycling inspection of steel
pressure vessels lined with plastics.
This Part applies to the cold-hot cycling inspection of steel pressure vessels
lined with plastics such as rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), chlorinated polyvinyl
chloride (PVC-C), polyethylene (PE), ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer
(ETFE), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), perfluoroalkoxy alkanes (PFA),
polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF), whose
container shell material is steel.

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For
undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this
document.
GB/T23711.1, Test method for pressure vessels lined with plastics - Part 1:
Spark testing
3 Test device
3.1 The schematic diagram of the cold-hot cycling test machine is shown in
Figure 1. The purpose of the test is to verify the ability of the plastic lining to
withstand sudden cold and sudden heat.
Note: After 20 times of cold-hot cycling, water bubbles that are generated on
the surface of PFA, PTFE, FEP will not affect the performance of the
plastic lining and are not considered to be ineffective.
6.2 Use naked eyes to observe the sample; when there is no failure, perform a
spark testing according to the method that is specified in GB/T 23711.1. If the
spark testing is qualified, determine the cold-hot cycling test of the sample at
the test temperature to be qualified.
7 Test report
7.1 The test report shall include the following:
a) the name of the manufacturer;
b) product name, product batch number, model specifications;
c) plastic lining material name and thickness;
d) standard on which the test is based;
e) testing machine model and heating temperature;
f) thermometer range, indication error, steam pressure;
g) heating and cooling processes description and curves;
h) test result.
7.2 For the format of the test report, see Appendix A.
