The previous editions of the standard replaced by this Standard are as follows. -- GB/T 2101-1980, GB/T 2101-1989, GB/T 2101-2008. General Requirement of Acceptance, Packaging, Marking and Certification for Section Steel 1 Application Scope This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, inspection rules and general specifications for packaging, marking, storage, transportation and quality certification of section steels (including billet, steel rod, reinforcing steel bar and steel wire rod). This Standard applies to hot-rolled, cold-drawn (rolled), forged and heat-treated steels. 2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition dated applies to this document. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced documents (including all amendments) applies to This Standard. GB/T 15574, Steel Products Classification 3 Terms and Definitions For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 packaging The activity of applying certain technical methods during the process of using materials and auxiliaries in order to protect products, facilitate storage and transportation and promote sales during the process of circulation. 3.2 label The product of paper or other materials fixed on packages, on which the content is marked including product name, furnace/batch number, designation, specification and manufacturer. 3.3 tap A movable label which is fixed to packages or products using iron wire, staple bolt, hobnail and so on. NOTE Normally made of the materials such as paper, rigid plastic and metal. 3.4 mark The method or content which identifies the characteristics of steels. NOTE The common methods include jet printing, stamping, roll stamping, printing, pasting sign or affixing (hanging) label and tag. 3.5 strapping The flexible materials which are used to strap section steels or packages. NOTE The commonly-used flexible materials include steel strip, steel wire rod, iron wire and so on. 3.6 hand protector The materials which are placed between section steels or between section steel and strapping materials to prevent section steels being damaged or strapping materials being cut off. NOTE The commonly-used materials include wood, metal, fibreboard, plastic and so on. 3.7 test unit The number of pieces or tons of products which are accepted or rejected at a time based on the tests on the sample products in accordance with the requirements of product standards and contracts. 3.8 sample product Part of products which are taken from the test unit during inspection and test (e.g. a stick of section steel). 3.9 sample The material which is cut off from a sample product in sufficient quantity in order to prepare one or more test pieces. NOTE Under some circumstances, samples are sample products. 3.10 rough specimen The samples which are mechanically processed and heat treated afterwards where appropriate in order to prepare test pieces. 3.11 test piece The rough specimens which have satisfactory dimensions and meet the test requirements, with or without mechanical processing. NOTE Under some circumstances, test pieces may be samples or rough specimens. 3.12 product analysis The analysis of chemical composition which is carried out for the products delivered. 3.13 sequential test A group of or a series of tests (e.g. impact tests) in which the mean value or single value is obtained to determined whether the products are as specified in product standards and/or contracts. 4 Inspection Rules 4.1 Inspection and acceptance 4.1.1 The quality of section steel shall be inspected and accepted by the quality supervision department of the supplier. 4.1.2 The section steel delivered shall comply with corresponding product standards; and the purchaser may carry out inspection in accordance with the corresponding product standards. 4.1.3 The purchaser shall inspect the length, weight, number per bundle and other content of the bundles of section steels before unstrapping in accordance with the mark of each bundle; and they shall not be unstrapped in case of any dispute in the above-mentioned content. 4.2 Batching rules Section steel shall be inspected and accepted by batch; and the batching rules shall be as specified in the corresponding product standards. 4.3 Inspection items, sampling quantity, sampling locations and test methods The inspection items, sampling quantity, sampling locations and test methods of section steels shall be as specified in the corresponding product standards. 4.4 Where chemical composition inspection is specified in the product standards, the corresponding product standards shall be implemented; and where chemical composition inspection is not specified in the product standards, the product analysis for inspection shall be carried out. 4.5 Criteria of impact test results 4.5.1 Where it is not specified in the product standards, a group of 3 test pieces are cut off from the sample products; their mean value shall meet the requirements for the specified values, allowing one single value of one sample lower than the specified values, but not lower than 70% of the specified values. 4.5.2 If the requirements of 4.5.1 are not met, but the test pieces lower than the specified values are not more than 2 and the test pieces lower than 70% of the specified values are not more than 1, the manufacturer may take another group of 3 test pieces from the same sample products; and after the test of the second group of test pieces, the test unit is determined to be acceptable if the following criteria are met at the same time. a) the mean value of the 6 test pieces is not lower than the specified values; b) the test pieces lower than the specified values are not more than 2; c) the test pieces lower than 70% of the specified values are not more than 1. If the above-mentioned criteria are not met, then the test unit is determined to be unacceptable. 4.6 Rules for retest and determination 4.6.1 Sequential test (such as impact test) In accordance with the criteria of impact test results specified in 4.5, when the results are unacceptable, the sample products of the unacceptable test results shall be picked out and scrapped, two samples products are taken from the rest of the test unit and a new group of three test pieces are taken from each sample product. All the test results of the two groups of test pieces shall be acceptable; or else, the test unit shall be rejected. 4.6.2 Non-sequential test (such as tensile test and bending test) 4.6.2.1 If the unacceptable resul... ......
