GB/T 20887 Continuously Hot Rolled High Strength Steel Sheet and Strip for
Automotive can be divided into 5 parts.
--- Part 1. High Yield Strength Steel for Cold Forming;

This Part belongs to Part 1 of GB/T 20887 Continuously Hot Rolled High Strength Steel
Sheet and Strip for Automotive.
The consistence between this Part and EN10149-2.1985 Hot Rolled Flat Products
Made of High Yield Strength Steels for Cold Forming – Part 2. Delivery Conditions for
Thermomechanically Rolled Steels is inequivalent.
The Appendix A of this Part is the informative one.
This Part was proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee for
Standardization of Steel.

High Yield Strength Steel for Cold Forming
1 Scope
This Part specifies the classification and code, dimension, shape, weight, technical
requirements, inspection and test, package, marking and quality certificate of
continuously hot rolled high yield strength steel sheet and strip for cold forming.
This Part is applicable to no-greater-than-20mm-thick continuously hot rolled high yield
strength steel strip, and the steel sheet horizontally cut by the steel strip, as well as the
steel strip longitudinally cut by the steel strip, hereinafter referred to as steel sheet and
strip.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Part through
reference in this Part. For dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding
corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Part, however, parties who reach an
agreement based on this Part are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these

3 Classification and Code
3.1 Naming method of the grade
The steel grade consists of three parts, namely, initial letters of “HR” in English “Hot
Rolled”, specified smallest yield strength value, and initial letter of “F” in English
“Forming”.

6 Technical Requirements
6.1 Chemical compositions
6.1.1 The steel chemical compositions (smelting analysis) shall conform to the
provisions of Table 1. The permissible deviation of chemical compositions of finished
steel products shall conform to the provisions of GB/T 222.
6.1.2 The contents of residual elements of copper, chromium, nickel in steel shall be
no greater than 0.30%, respectively; if the supplier can guarantee the above provision,
analysis can be ignored.
6.2 Smelting method
The steel sheet and strip used steel is smelted by oxygen converter or electric furnace.
Unless otherwise specified, the smelting method is selected by the supplier.
6.3 Delivery state
6.3.1 Steel sheet and strip are delivered in the hot rolled state.
6.3.2 When steel sheet and strip have hot rolled pickled surface, generally they shall
be delivered in the oil painting state; the painted oil film can be removed by the alkaline
solution; in the general package, transportation, loading and unloading, and storage
conditions, the supplier shall guarantee no rust within 3 months since they were...
