Determination method of pH value for pesticides
1 Scope
This method is suitable for the determination of the pH value of the aqueous dispersion
(or aqueous solution) of pesticide technical materials, powders, wettable powders,
emulsifiable concentrates, etc.
2 Definitions
The pH value of an aqueous solution is defined as the negative logarithm of the
hydrogen ion activity, which is expressed in mol/L.
3 Method summary
Measure the pH value of the aqueous solution, by a pH meter,
4 Reagents and solutions
4.1 Water: Freshly boiled distilled water cooled to room temperature, which has a pH
value of 5.5 ~ 7.0.
4.2 c(C8H5KO4) = 0.05 mol/L Potassium hydrogen phthalate pH standard solution:
Weigh 10.21 g of potassium hydrogen phthalate, which was baked at 105 ~ 110 °C to
constant weight, in a 1000 mL volumetric flask. Use water to dissolve and dilute to the
mark. Shake well. This solution shall be kept for no more than one month.
4.3 c(Na2B4O7) = 0.05 mol/L sodium tetraborate pH standard solution: Weigh 19.07 g
of sodium tetraborate, in a 1000 mL volumetric flask. Use water to dissolve and dilute
to the mark. Shake well. This solution shall be kept for no more than one month.
4.4 Temperature correction of pH value of standard solution:
The pH value of 0.05 mol/L potassium hydrogen phthalate solution is 4.00 (the effect
of temperature on pH value is negligible).
The temperature correction value of 0.05 mol/L sodium tetraborate solution is as
follows:
