3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Natural sand
Rock particles generated naturally, explored artificially, the sieved particle
size of which no less than 4.75 mm, river sand, lake sand, mountain sand and
desalt sea sand are included, but soft and weathered rock particles are
excluded.
3.2 Manufactured sand
Rock, mine tailings or industrial waste residue particles, made by mechanical
disruption, sieving and excavated soil, the particle size of which no less than
4.75 mm, but the soft and weathered particles are excluded, known as
artificial sand.
3.3 Clay content
Content of particles in the natural sand of which the particle size is less than
75 μm.
3.4 Fine content
Content of particles in the manufactured sand of which the particle size is less
than 75 μm.
3.5 Clay lumps and friable particles content
Content of particles in the sand whose original particle size is larger than 1.18
mm and less than 600 μm after immersion cleaning with water and squeezing
with hands.
3.6 Fineness module
