Laundry powders - Part 2: Test method
1 Scope
This document describes the test methods for the physical-chemical indicators and
performance of laundry powders.
This document applies to laundry powders, which are produced with surfactants and
other additives.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this
document through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references,
only the version corresponding to the date applies to this document; for undated
references, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms and definitions, that need to be defined, in this document.
4 Test methods
4.1 General
Unless otherwise specified, only reagents confirmed to be analytically pure and grade-
4 or above water conforming to GB/T 6682 are used in the analysis.
According to the provisions of Chapter 4 of GB/T 13173-2021, the laboratory samples
of laundry powder are reduced.
4.2 Appearance
Under indirect light conditions, carry out direct visual observation. Pour the product on
the white paper and observe; if there is agglomeration, but the agglomeration is
loosened by pressing lightly by hand, it is regarded as qualified.
4.3 Apparent density
It is determined, according to the provisions of Chapter 13 of GB/T 13173-2021.
4.4 Total active content
It is determined, according to the provisions of Chapter 7 of GB/T 13173-2021.
The general inspection is according to method A; the method B is required, when the
test result does not include water co-solvent.
The content of nonionic surfactant is determined, according to the provisions of Chapter
8 of GB/T 13173-2021.
4.5 Total phosphorus pentoxide content
It is determined, according to the phosphomolybdate blue colorimetric method, in
Chapter 6 of GB/T 13173-2021. The quinoline phosphomolybdate gravimetric method
is used, as the arbitration method for phosphorus-containing laundry powder.
4.6 Free base content
It is determined, according to the provisions of Chapter 20 of GB/T 13173-2021.
4.7 pH
Prepare the specimen solution, according to the requirements in Chapter 5 of GB/T
13171.1-2022. Weigh 0.1 g or 0.05 g of the specimen, accurate to 0.001 g. Add 100 mL
of water. Electromagnetically stir to fully dissolve it. Keep at 25 °C, whilst stirring it
gently. Make determination, according to GB/T 6368.
