This Standard replaces GB 10789-2007 “General Standard for Beverage” and the No. 1 modification list. Compared with GB 10789-2007, the main changes of this Standard are as follows. -- Modify the names and orders of beverage classification; -- Delete or adjust the sub-classification and definition of some beverage classification; -- Modify the expression form of indicators requirements in Table 1 Basic Technical Requirement. General Standard for Beverage 1 Scope This Standard specifies the beverage’s terms, definitions, classification, naming, technical requirements, label, claim, transportation, storage and consumer’s identification requirements for bottled water. This Standard is applicable to beverage’s production and research-development, as well as the formulation of beverage product standards and other standards that are relevant to beverage. It can also be beverage syrup or in solid state. 3.2 Beverage Syrup It is a kind of drinking product that is processed and based on food’s raw and auxiliary material and (or) food additives; it can only be drunk after diluted by water to a certain ratio OR adding carbon dioxide after diluted. Using fruit or vegetable as raw material, processed with physical approaches (mechanical method, water extraction); it is the juice or puree product that can be fermented but not fermented, or the juice or puree product that is recovered by ADDING the equivalent- amount of water that was removed during processing INTO the concentrated fruit/vegetable juice (puree), such as originally extracted juice (non-reconstituted juice), reconstituted juice, vegetable juice, fruit/vegetable puree and mixed fruit & vegetable juice (puree). 4.2.2 Concentrated fruit/vegetable juice (puree) Using fruit or vegetable as raw material, processed with physical approaches, the fruit juice (puree) or vegetable juice (puree) products are produced by removing a certain amount of water. After adding the equivalent-amount of water that was removed during the processing, it possesses the due features of fruit juice (puree) or vegetable juice (puree). The PRODUCT that contains no less than two types of concentrated fruit juice (puree), or concentrated vegetable juice (puree), or concentrated fruit juice (puree) and concentrated vegetable juice (puree) IS DEEMED as the mixed concentrated fruit/vegetable juice (puree). 4.2.3 Fruit/vegetable juice (puree) beverage The product that is produced by using fruit juice (puree) or vegetable juice (puree) as raw material, adding or not adding other food’s raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additives, such as vegetable juice beverage, fruit flesh (puree) beverage, mixed fruit/vegetable beverage puree, fermented fruit/vegetable beverage, and fruit beverage. 4.3 Protein beverage The liquid beverage that uses milk or milk product, or other edible protein from animals, or plant product, seed, kernel with a certain amount of protein as the raw material, adding or not adding other food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive; it is processed or fermented. 4.3.1 Milk beverage The product that uses milk or milk product as raw material, adding or not adding other food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive, it is processed or fermented, such as formulated milk beverage, fermented milk beverage and lactobacillus beverage. 4.3.2 Plant protein beverage The product that uses one or multiple kind(s) of plant product, seed or kernel with a certain amount of protein as raw material, adding or not adding other food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive, it is processed or fermented, such as soymilk, soybean 4.5.4 Electrolyte beverage The product that supplements mineral substance and other nutritional substance to the body, provides electrolyte and water for body metabolism. 4.5.5 Other special usage beverage Other special usage beverages that are excluded from 4.5.1 ~ 4.5.4. 4.6 Flavored beverage The liquid beverage that uses one or more than one types of substance, such as sugar (including edible sugar and starch sugar) and (or) sweetening agent, acidity regulator, edible essence as the main approach, it is processed or fermented, such as tea beverage, fruit-flavored beverage, milk-flavored beverage, coffee-flavored beverage, flavored water beverage and other flavored beverages. NOTE. The flavored beverage without color modulation process and sugar (including edible sugar and starch sugar) ARE DEEMED as flavored water beverage, such as soda beverage, peppermint water beverage and rose water beverage. 4.7 Tea beverage The liquid beverage that uses tea or tea water extract or tea concentrated solution, tea powder (including instant tea-powder, grinding tea-powder) or fresh tea leaf as raw materials, adding or not adding other food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive, it is a processed liquid beverage, such as original tea (tea soup)/pure tea beverage, concentrated tea solution, ... ......
