GB 5768 Road Traffic Signs and Markings is divided into eight parts:

---Part 4: Work Zone;
---Part 5: Speed Limit;
---Part 6: Highway Railway Grade Crossing;
---Part 7: Non-motor Vehicles and Pedestrians;

This is the eighth part of GB 5768.
Since the date of implementation of this Part, all the newly established (re-established)
traffic signs and markings shall implement the new stipulations.
This Part was proposed by Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China,
The Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Transport of the People’s
Republic of China.
The drafting organizations of this Part: Research Institute of Highway Ministry of
Transport.
The main drafters of this Part: Tang Chengcheng, Jiangming, Chenyu, Zhangfan,
Songnan, Chaosui.
1 Scope
This Part stipulates the principles and requirements of setting up road traffic signs and
markings in school zones.
This Part is applicable to the setting of road traffic signs and markings in school zones.

The following documents are indispensable to the application of this document.In
terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are
applicable to this document.In terms of references without a specified date, the latest
version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 School Zone
School zone refers to roads within 150 m radius range on the upstream and
downstream of kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools.
4 General Stipulations
4.1 Road traffic signs and markings in school zones shall coordinate with other traffic
safety and management facilities.
4.2 The dimensions of speed limit and warning signs in school zones should be
amplified based on the requirements in GB 5768.2.
4.3 Retroreflective sheeting adopted for traffic signs in school zones should be Class-
IV or Class-V retroreflective sheeting that complies with GB/T 18833-2012.
