This Part replaces GB 5606.3-1996 "Cigarettes - Making technical requirement".
Compared with GB 5606.3-1996, the main changes of this Part are as follows.
- ADD technical indicators and definitions such as content of loss of tobacco from
the ends and degree of total ventilation;
- DIVIDE the technical requirements for packaging and making into three
categories. A, B, C, according to the severity of quality defects;
- CHANGE the water content to moisture content; ADJUST the tolerance range of
draw resistance, circumference, hardness, quality, as well as the index requirements
of dust content and moisture content;
- SPECIFY different unit deduction values for the three different quality defects of
categories A, B, C. CANCEL the limit on the highest score of each single item.
SPECIFY that when the quality score of cigarette packaging and making is
negative, it is counted as zero;
- ADD the requirements for "storage and transportation".
This Part was proposed by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Tobacco Standardization

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Part.
3.1
Draw resistance
The resistance of a cigarette when it is drawn. It is expressed by the static pressure
difference at both ends of a cigarette when a certain flow rate of air flows through
the cigarette under a certain atmospheric environment.
3.2
Hardness
The ability of a cigarette to resist deformation in the radial direction under a certain
atmospheric environment. It is expressed as the percentage -- of the length in the
diameter direction of the cigarette to the original diameter -- after a certain area of
the probe and a certain pressure are applied to the cigarette for a certain period of
time.
3.3
Dust content
The percentage -- of tobacco dust of a certain size in tobacco shreds to the mass of
tobacco shreds.
3.4
Loose ends
The hollow of a certain area and depth, which is formed at the end of a cigarette due
to the lack of tobacco filling.
3.5
Seam open
The crack that appears after the cigarette seam is broken.
3.6
Extinguish
The phenomenon that a cigarette stops smoldering after being ignited.
3.7
Degree of total ventilation
The sum of the ventilation rate of the filter tip and the ventilation rate of the paper.
3.8
Content of loss of tobacco from the ends
6.3.4 Hardness
Randomly select 30 pcs from the test samples as test portion, to test them one by one
according to the provisions of YC/T 28.6.
6.3.5 Moisture content
According to 5.1.4.2 of GB/T 5606.1-2004, obtain the test sample, to carry out the test
according to YC/T 28.8.

according to the provisions of YC/T 28.4.
6.3.7 Length
Randomly select 30 pieces from the test sample as test portion, to test them one by one
according to the provisions of YC/T 28.2.
