Preface
According to the requirement of "Notification of printing and distribution of Establishment
and revision plans for national standards in engineering construction in year_ 2001 to
2002"( JB[2002] No. 85) of Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic of China. This
code was revised on the basis of "Code for construction and acceptance of cable system electric
equipment installation engineering" GB 50168-92 by Beijing Electric Power Construction
Research Institute of SOCC and the relevant units.
There are 8 chapters and 1 appendixes in this code, the contains include general, terms,
transportation, storage and keeping of cables and accessories, construction of attached facilities
and structures of cable system, laying of cables, installation of cable accessories, construction of
the fire protection and anti-flaming facilities of cable system, handing over and acceptance of projects.
This code made the following revision comparing with the former code.
1. Add the chapter of terms;
2. It is more definite for the connection specification of cable ducts;
3. It is more strict and specific for the construction specifications of fire protection and
anti-flaming of cable system;
4. Add the specifications for the construction of dividing box of cable;
5. It is more in detail and specific for the specifications for the suspended laying of cable system;
6. The detail specifications for the installation of termination and connection of high
pressure cable were made in chapter "Installation of cable accessories".
The items with bold face in this code are the obligatory items and must be executed strictly.
This code is under the management of Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic of
China and the obligatory items are under the explanation of it. The detail contains are under the
explanation of Beijing Electric Power Construction Research Institute of SOCC.

1 General
1.0.1 This code was established under the purpose of ensuring the construction quality of the
installation engineering of cable system, promoting the improvement of the technical level for the
construction of cable system, insuring the safety running of cable system.
1.0.2 The technical requirements for the construction and acceptance of installation engineering
in electric cable system (called cable system in the following) and its attached equipments and
structure facilities were specified in this code.
1.0.3 This code is fit for the electric cable system and its attached equipments and structure
facilities with the rated voltage of 500 kV or under 500 kV. The control cable and guiding cable
can be used referring to this.
1.0.4 The installation engineering of the cable system which has special requirements in mine,
shipping, metallurgy, chemical industry and so on shall also be accordance with the relative
specifications in the special regulations.
The installation of cable system shall be constructed according to the approved design.
1.0.5 The cables and accessories that are adopted shall all be accordance with the specifications
in the current national standard and relative product standard, and shall have product identifier and
acceptance certification.
1.0.6 The safety technical measures in the construction shall be accordance with the
specifications in this code, the current relative safety standard, and the technical documents for the
products. For the important construction projects or key working procedures, the pertinent safety
technical measures shall also be made in advance.
1.0.7 The steel fasteners for the installation of cables and its accessories, except anchor bolts,
shall adopt the products with hot zincification or with the equivalent performance of hot
zincification.
1.0.8 For the cable system with the anti disturbance requirement, the anti disturbance measures
shall be adopted according to the design requirements.
1.0.9 The construction and acceptance of cable system shall also be accordance with the
specifications in the current national standards and codes except being compliance with the
specifications in this code.

2 Terms
2.0.1 Cable
The cable segment part except the accessories like cable connection, termination and so on in
the cable system, usually it is called cable.
Note. Sometimes cable generally refers to cable system, that is, the cable system which is composed by the
cable body and the installed accessories.
2.0.2 Metallic sheath
Metallic cover layer in tube form that is sealed off evenly and continuously.
2.0.3 Armour
The cover layer that is composed by the metal belt or metal wire, usually it is to protect the
cable not bearing the mechanic force form outsi.de.
Note. The metal belt operates as the radial strengthening protection, and the metal wire operates as
longitudinal strengthening protection.
2.0.4 Termination
The equipment that is installed at the end of the cable to make the cable connecting with other
electric facilities or suspended electric line and keeping insulation to the connection point.
2.0.5 Joint
The equipment of conductor, insulation, shield layer and protective layer to connect the cables
to make the cable system continue.
2.0.6 Cable dividing box, cable feeding pillar
The special electric connecting facilities that complete the collecting and dividing- functions
of the cable system in electric distribution system, but mostly do not have the secondary assistant
configuration like control, measurement and so on.
Note. Cable dividing box usually uses for distributing electric power and (or) termination power supply in the
city loop net electric supply and (or) radiate electric supply system. Usually it is installed outdoor
directly, sometimes indoor. The cable termination is the main components that is needed in the cable
dividing box, usually it adopts the dissociable termination (or called dissociable connector) or indoor
termination.
2.0. 7 Cable accessories
General designation of the components like termination, connection, (oil filled cable) pressure
box, crossing interconnection box, grounding box, protection layer protector and so on.
2.0.8 Cable bearer
General designation of the equipments for holding and fixing cable after the cable is laid and
taken its place, including normal bearer and tray.
2.0.9 Cable tray
The continuous stiff structural system to support cable and is composed by the direct line
segment and non-direct line segment of the salver (slot), or ladder bed, accessories, bearer, hanger
and so on.
2.0.10 Cable ducts, cable conduits
The tube that id laid in the cable body for protection and for dragging out the cable to change it if
there is failure in it. There are structural fonns like single tube, row tubes and so on, or called cable tube.

3 Transportation, storage and keeping of cables and accessories
3.0.1 The transportation and storage of the cable and its accessories shall be accordance with
the requirement of the product standard, and shall avoid the strong vibration, tilt, wetting,
corrosion and ensure not damaging the external surface of the box and the components in the box.
