This Standard replaced the determination of decoloring test stipulated in the following
standards, such as GB/T 5009.60-2003 Method for Analysis of Hygienic Standard of
Products of Polyethylene, Polystyrene and Polypropyrene for Food Packaging, GB/T
5009.61-2003 Method for Analysis of Hygienic Standard of Products of
Tripolycyanamide for Food Packaging, GB/T 5009.67-2003 Method for Analysis of
Hygienic Standard of Product of Polyvinyl Chloride for Food Packaging, GB/T 5009.78-
2003 Method for Analysis of Hygienic Standard of Papers for Food Packaging.
Compared with GB/T 5009.60-2003, GB/T 5009.61-2003, GB/T 5009.67-2003, GB/T
5009.78-2009, this Standard has the major changes as follows.
--- Modified the standard name into “National Food Safety Standard on Decoloring Test
of Food Contact Materials and Products”;
--- Modified the standard scope.

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the decoloring test method of food contact materials and
products.
This Standard is applicable to the decoloring test of food contact materials and
products.
2 Principle
Observe the color change of the sample through wiping with solvent and immersing
into soaking solution.
3 Reagents and Materials
Unless otherwise is specified, all reagents used in this method are analytically pure;
water used is Class-II water stipulated in GB/T 6682.
3.1 Reagents
3.1.1 Anhydrous ethanol (C2H6O).
3.1.2 Ethanol solution (65+35). weight 65mL of anhydrous ethanol, add 35mL of
water, mix evenly.
3.1.3 Vegetable oil. colorless or light-colored vegetable oil.
3.1.4 Soaking solution. operate as per the preparation of soaking solution stipulated
in GB 5009.156.
3.2 Materials
Degreasing cotton.
