This standard applies to sales packaging of food and cosmetics. 2 Normative references The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies. GB/T 4122.1 Packaging terms - Part 1: Basic 3 Terms and definitions The terms and definitions as established in GB/T 4122.1 and the following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1 Excessive package The package exceeding the moderate demand for packaging functions, wherein the interspace ratio, the package layers, the packaging cost exceed the necessary degree. 3.2 Original package Package in direct contact with the product. 3.3 Package layers The number of packaging layers that completely wrap the product. Note: Complete package refers to the packaging method to prevent the product from being scattered. 3.4 Interspace ratio The ratio of the volume of unnecessary space in the sales package to the volume of the sales package. 4 Requirements 4.1 Basic requirements 4.1.1 The packaging design shall be scientific and reasonable. On the premise of meeting the requirements of normal packaging functions, the packaging materials, structure and cost shall be compatible with the quality and specifications of the contents, effectively use resources and reduce the amount of packaging materials. 4.1.2 According to the characteristics and quality of food and cosmetics, it shall select suitable packaging materials. Packaging should be made of a single material or packaging materials that facilitate separation of materials. It is encouraged to use the recyclable, recoverable packaging materials. 4.1.3 It shall reasonably simplify the packaging structure and function. It should not use the cumbersome forms or complicated structures; try to avoid the package of too many package layers, too large interspace ratio, too high cost. 4.1.4 It shall consider the entire life cycle cost of package; take effective measures; control the direct costs of package; consider the environmental impact and related costs incurred during package recycling and disposal. 4.1.5 For package that can also be used as other functions after the packaging function is completed, it shall fully consider its economics and practicability, to avoid increasing packaging costs in order to pursue other functions. 4.2 Limitation requirements 4.2.1 The interspace ratio and the package layer for food and cosmetics shall comply with the requirements in Table 1. Appendix A (Normative) Calculation method of interspace ratio A.1 The calculation of interspace ratio is as shown in formula (A.1): Where: X - Interspace ratio; Vn - Volume of product sales package [refers to the volume of the smallest rectangular parallelepiped of the product sales package (excluding handles, fasteners, ties and other accessories)], in cubic millimeter (mm3); V0 - The total volume of the original packaging of the product, that is, the total volume of the original packaging of each product. The original packaging volume of the product refers to the minimum circumscribed cubic volume of the product packaging of the product itself, in cubic millimeters (mm3); k - Necessary space factor for product. The necessary volume of space refers to the space required to protect or fix the original packaging of each product. In this standard, the value of k is 0.6. Note: When calculating the sales package volume of the product and the original package volume of the product, the measurement accuracy of the minimum cube side length is mm. A.2 If two or more products are included in the product sales package, then for the products listed in the label, the volume or its original package volume (if the product also has an original package) is included in the total volume of the product's original package. In order to achieve the normal function of the product, the volume of additional items that need to be sold together with the product is included in the total volume of the product's original package, such as product-specific opening tools, product instructions, or other auxiliary items. A.3 If there are two or more types of products in the product sales package, meanwhile two or more types of products require interspace ratio, calculate the interspace ratios based on the products listed on the label; if two or more types ......
