Foreword
This standard is drafted according to the rules given in GB/T 1.1 2009.
This standard replaces YB/T 081 1996 "Rule for rounding off of numerical
values and judgment of testing values for technical standards of metallurgy".
As compared with YB/T 081 1996, the main technical changes are as follows.
-- Add "terms and definitions" (see Chapter 3);
-- Delete the relevant requirements of carrying out numerical values
rounding-off department (see 1996 version 3.14 and 3.1.5);
-- Modify the compiling format of judgment method of numerical values (see
Chapter 5, 1996 version 3.2);
-- Modify the coordination and connection requirements of product standards
and test method standards for the rounding interval of index or parameter
values (see Chapter 7, 1996 version Chapter 5).
This standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Steel Standardization
Technical Committee (SAC/TC 183).
The drafting organization of this standard. Metallurgical Industry Information
Standards Institute.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the principle and the rounding-off key points of carrying
out rounding off of numerical values and judgment of testing values or its
calculated values in metallurgical standardization activities, and the
coordination and connection requirements of product standards and test
method standards for the rounding interval of index or parameter values.
This standard applies to the compiling of all kinds of technical standards of
metallurgy or relevant documents and the judgment of testing values or its
calculated values.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential for the application of this document. For
dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated
references, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this

Terms and definitions defined in GB/T 8170-2008 apply to this document.
4.Rounding-off rules of testing values or its calculated
values in technical standards of metallurgy
4.1 In the activities of revising and implementing technical standards of
metallurgy or related documents, determine a variety of indexes and
parameters; for the testing values or its calculated values, when rounding off is
required, determine the rounding intervals and rules according to the rules
given in GB/T 8170-2008 Chapter 3; continuous rounding off is not permitted.
4.2 When testing values or its calculated values are rounded off, the numerical
digit indicated for reserving numerical value shall be in accordance with the
numerical digit identified by index or parameter values specified in product
standards.
5 The comparison method between testing values or its calculated values and numerical value limit specified by the standard
5.1 General rules
5.1.1 In judging whether the testing values or its calculated values meet the
standard requirements or not, compare the testing values or its calculated
values obtained from the test with the numerical value limit specified by
standards. The comparison method may adopt.
5.1.2 If the standard or relevant documents have provisions on the practical
comparison method, it shall be implemented according to the provisions of the
standard or relevant documents. If not specified, it is recommended to use
rounding-off value comparison method.
5.2 Full numerical comparison method
Compare the testing values or its calculated values which are not subjected to
rounding off (or through rounding off, but it shall be marked that it is obtained
through rounding-off or non-rounding-off) with the numerical value limit
specified in the standard or the relevant documents. As long as it is beyond the
scope of the numerical value limit (regardless of size of degree), it is judged to
be unsatisfactory. Examples are shown in Table 1.
5.3 Rounding-off value comparison method
5.3.1 Round off the testing values or its calculated values, the rounding-off digits
shall be in accordance with the numerical digit of specified numerical value limit.
6.2 Mechanical Property
6.2.1 If the standard or relevant documents do not specify the rounding interval,
the tensile test results of metal materials shall be rounded off according to the
provisions of Table 2.
6.3 Other mechanical property or physical property tests
The testing values or its calculated values that are obtained in other mechanical
property or physical property tests may be rounded off according to the
provisions of corresponding test method standards.
6.4 Size measurement
The results of size measurement shall be rounded off according to the
numerical digit identified by the numerical values specified in the standard or
relevant documents.
7 The coordination and connection requirements of product standards and test method standards for the rounding interval of index or parameter values
When revising and implementing technical standards of metallurgy or related
documents, take fully into account the coordination of product standards and
test method standards for the rounding interval of index or parameter values.
