Specification of LED panels for stadium and
gymnasium
1 Scope
This specification stipulates the definition, classification and grading, technical
requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging,
transportation, storage requirements of LED panels for stadium and gymnasium.
This specification applies to the design, manufacturing, quality inspection,
installation, acceptance of LED panels for stadium and gymnasium (hereinafter
abbreviated panel).
This specification does not include panels for guiding directions OR the panels
in the timing and scoring system, in the stadium and gymnasium.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard
through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard;
however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are
encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as established in SJ/T 11141-2003, SJ/T 11281, TY/T
1001.1-2005, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this
specification.
3.1
Display area
In response to the requirements of sports competitions, the area, which is
divided on the panel, can be independently controlled, has independent
display function (such as graphics & text display area or video display area,
clock area).
3.2
Density of pixel
The number of pixels, per square meter of the display area, of the panel.
4 Classification and grading
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 By the use environment
The panels are divided into indoor panels (for gymnasiums) and outdoor panels
(for stadiums).
4.1.4 By installation structure
The LED panels for stadium and gymnasium are divided into flat panels, bucket
panels, ring panels, according to different installation structures.
4.2 Characteristic grade
The optical performance, electrical performance, mechanical performance of
the panel are divided into three grades.
5 Requirements
5.1 Standard test conditions
Unless otherwise specified, the test conditions are as follows.
The ambient temperature is 15 °C ~ 35 °C; the relative humidity is 15%RH ~
80%RH; the atmospheric pressure is 86 kPa ~ 106 kPa;
5.2 Functional characteristics of panel
5.2.1 Graphic & text panels
It has the display function of letters, numbers, text, charts, graphics. Each
primary color shall have a grayscale processing capability, which is greater than
level 16 (color level equal to 4 bits). The animation display is consistent with the
display of the corresponding area, on the main computer monitor.
5.2.4 Characters displayed on the flat panel
For the flat panels of swimming venues used for international competitions, they
must meet the requirements of the competition rules of the International
Swimming Federation.
5.2.6 Time display
Beijing time clock can display h, min, s. The digital game clock can be designed
as a rolling timing or backward timing, can pause timing, can display min, s, ms.
When used in a basketball game, it can be connected to a 24-second device,
to synchronously display the total remaining time of the game.
5.3 Optical performance
5.3.1 Optical performance of pixels, display modules, display module
group
5.3.2.2 View angle
The horizontal view angle of the panel, θS, is not less than ±50°; the vertical
upper view angle, θC, is not less than 10°; the vertical lower view angle of the
flat panel, θC, is not less than 35°; the vertical lower view angle of the bucket
panel, θC, is not less than 50°.
5.4.4 Load change rate of module group

5.4.8 Video display resolution
To ensure the video display effect of the video panel, the minimum resolution of
the video image displayed on the panel is 320 (W) x 240 (H).
5.5 Structure, appearance, mechanical properties of panels
5.5.1 Structure
5.14 Reliability requirements
For the reliability of the panel system for stadium and gymnasium, it shall meet
the requirements of 5.10 in SJ/T 11141-2003.
6 Test method
6.1 Test instrument and software
Color TV signal generator. S/N > 52 dB. Color analyzer. indication error ≤ ±5%
(Similar instruments, which are used to measure optical properties such as
brightness and chromaticity, are also available). Light intensity meter. indication
error < ±10%. Illuminance meter. indication error ≤ ±5%. Oscilloscope.
6.2 Test method
6.2.1 Functional characteristics of panels
6.2.1.1 Graphic & text panels
Use the host computer, which is installed with the basic operating system
software AND the display software (LED multimedia editing studio software,
etc.),
6.2.1.2 Video panel
Use the host computer, which is installed with the basic operating system
software AND the display software (LED multimedia editing studio software,
etc.), that can meet the requirements of its display function, to run the video
panel. Compare the panel with the monitor of host computer. Except for visual
inspection of all functions of the graphics & text panel, it is necessary to display
computer animation, to compare and check the animation function; meanwhile
use the video source to check the function of the video signal, which shall meet
the requirements of 5.2.2.
6.2.1.5 Maximum viewing distance and character height
Calculate the character height, according to the pixel center distance of the
tested panel for stadium and gymnasium. Calculate the maximum viewing
distance approximately, according to formula (1), which shall meet the
requirements of 5.2.5.
6.2.2 Optical performance
6.2.2.1 Optical performance of pixels, display modules, display module
groups
6.2.2.1.1 Dominant wavelength error of primary color
It is tested and calculated, according to the method, which is specified in 4.2.4
of SJ/T 11281.The results shall meet the requirements of 5.3.1.1.
6.2.2.1.2 Uniformity of pixel intensity
It is tested and calculated, according to the method, which is specified in 4.2.7.1
of SJ/T 11281.The results shall meet the requirements of 5.3.1.2.
6.2.4.3 Mechanical properties
6.2.4.3.1 Assembly accuracy
6.2.4.3.1.1 Flatness
It is tested according to the method, which is specified in 4.1.2.1 of SJ/T 11281;
the results shall meet the requirements of 5.5.3.1.1.
6.2.4.3.1.2 Relative deviation of pixel center distance
It is tested and calculated according to the method, which is specified in 4.1.2.2
of SJ/T 11281; the results shall meet the requirements of 5.5.3.1.2.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection items
This product is divided into identification inspection and quality consistency
inspection. The inspection rules are in accordance with the relevant
requirements in Chapter 7 of SJ/T 11141-2003.The inspection items and
requirements are in accordance with the regulations in Table 17.
7.2 Identification
7.2.3.1 Randomly select two panels, from the same batch of products, that have
passed the final process inspection. According to the items and sequence in
Table 17, check the functional characteristics, optical performance, electrical
performance, structure, appearance and mechanical performance, hardware
environment, software environment, safety requirements, power supply, of the
panel, which shall meet the requirements of 5.2 ~ 5.9.
7.3.3.3 Sampling plan
Randomly select three display module groups from the batches, that passed
the group A inspection, as samples, for environmental adaptability inspection.
7.3.5.2 Qualification judgment
According to GB/T 11463 Chapter 7 Failure and judgement criteria of failure,
Chapter 8 Acceptance and rejection judgments, for the panel which fails the
reliability test, it is not allowed to be exit-factory.
8 Markings, packaging, transportation, storage
The marking, packaging, transportation, storage of the panels shall meet the
requirements of SJ/T 10463.
8.1 Markings
8.1.1 Product mark
8.1.1.1 The nameplate shall be installed on the appropriate position of the panel.
8.1.2 Packaging mark
The marking on the outer packaging box of the panels shall meet the
requirements of GB/T 6388.
8.2 Packaging
8.2.1 It is packed in a packing box, that meets the requirements of the outer
packaging mark.
8.3 Transportation
The packaged products can be transported by conventional means of
transportation; however, the transportation process shall avoid exposure to rain
and snow, prolonged exposure to the sun, contact with corrosive gases, or
mechanical damage.
8.4 Storage
The range of storage temperature of the panel is 0 °C ~ 40 °C. The range of
relative humidity is 30%RH ~ 80%RH. The panel shall be stored in a ventilated
and dry warehouse, without acid, alkali and corrosive gas in the surrounding
environment. There is no strong mechanical vibration, shock, or strong
magnetic field.
