Color assessment booth
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the structure, technical requirements, test methods, inspection
rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of color assessment
booth.
This Standard applies to equipment of standard visual environment required for visual
color evaluation.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, terms and definitions given in GB/T 5698 apply.
4 Structure
The typical structure of a color assessment booth is shown in Figure 1.
5.4.2 The background color of the color assessment booth shall be neutral, and the
chroma difference ΔC∗ shall be controlled within 1.0.
5.5 Luminosity
5.5.1 Illuminance
Under rated working conditions, the illumination of the observation surface inside the
booth shall be 1 500 lx ~ 3 000 lx. The illumination inside the booth shall be evenly
distributed, and the ratio of any edge illumination to the center illumination shall be
within 0.8 ~ 1.1.
5.5.2 Color temperature
Under rated working conditions, the color temperature of the light source shall be within
±5% of the marked color temperature.
5.5.3 Color rendering index
Under rated working conditions, the general color rendering index Ra of the simulated
CIE standard illuminant D light source shall be greater than 90.
6 Test methods
6.1 Dimensions
Use a standard gauge with a graduation value of 1.0 mm to measure the dimensions of
the color assessment booth.
6.2 Appearance
When visual inspection is used to inspect the appearance of a color assessment booth,
the following provisions shall be followed:
a) Ambient illumination: 100 lx ~ 500 lx;
b) The distance between the observer’s eyes and the color assessment booth is
approximately 0.3 m.
6.3 Light source
Use the visual method to observe whether the light source flickers or becomes bright or
dark under normal working conditions.
