Gear dual-flank meshing measuring instrument
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, types and basic parameters,
requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging of gear
dual-flank meshing measuring instrument.
This Standard applies to the dual-flank meshing measuring instrument (hereinafter
referred to as "dual-flank meshing instrument") for measuring cylindrical gears, bevel
gears, hypoid gears, and worm gears with a module of 1 mm~10 mm.
NOTE: It can be used as a reference for gear dual-flank meshing measuring instruments of other
structural types (including double-flank meshing comprehensive measuring instruments for small
module gears below 1 mm).
2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 10089-
1988, GB/T 10095.1-2008, GB/T 10095.2-2008, GB/T 11365-1989, GB/T 17163-2008,
GB/T 17164-2008 as well as the followings apply.
3.1 gear dual-flank meshing measuring instrument
A measuring instrument of which the gear to be tested and the measuring gear are
meshed on both sides without gap, and the change of the meshing center distance is
measured by using an indicator measuring instrument or a displacement sensor to
measure the radial comprehensive error of the gear, the radial comprehensive error of
one tooth, the radial runout of the gear ring, etc. The use of corresponding optional
accessories can also realize the measurement of gear tooth thickness deviation, gear
pair side clearance and center distance deviation, worm gear radial comprehensive error,
and bevel gear axial spacing variation.
4 Types and basic parameters
4.1 Types
The basic type of the dual-flank meshing instrument is shown in Figure 1. The optional
accessories are shown in Figure 2. The figure is for illustration only and does not show
the detailed structure.
5.4 Straightness
The straightness of the main carriage movement shall not be greater than 10″.
5.5 Wobble
The wobble of the main carriage movement shall not exceed 15″.
5.6 Parallelism
5.6.1 The parallelism of the main carriage spindle axis and the measuring carriage
spindle axis in both the longitudinal and transverse directions shall not be greater than
5 μm over a length of 50 mm.
5.6.2 The parallelism between the line connecting the upper and lower centers of the
column and the axis of the measuring carriage spindle in both the longitudinal and
transverse directions shall not be greater than 5 μm over a length of 50 mm.
5.6.3 The parallelism between the vertical and horizontal directions of the horizontal
frame and the axis of the measuring slide shaft shall not be greater than 5 μm over a
length of 50 mm.
5.6.4 The parallelism between the axis of the cross-frame spindle and the end face of
the measuring slide rotating sleeve shall not be greater than 5 μm over a length of 50
mm.
5.6.5 The parallelism of the end face of the measuring slide rotating sleeve of the two
center points on the cross frame shall not be greater than 10 μm over a length of 50 mm.
5.7 Circular runout
5.7.1 The radial runout and end face runout of the rotating sleeve shall not be greater
than 3 μm.
5.7.2 The oblique circular runout of the main center of the cross frame shall not be
greater than 5 μm.
5.8 Measuring force
The measuring force of the dual-flank meshing instrument shall not exceed 22 N.
5.9 Indication variability
The indication variability of the dual-flank meshing instrument shall not be greater than
that specified in Table 2.
5.10 Indication error
The indication error of the dual-flank meshing instrument shall not be greater than that
d) When a finalized product has been produced continuously for more than 3 years,
at least once every 3 years;
e) When the national quality supervision department makes a request.
7.2.3 If one item of type inspection fails, the sampling shall be doubled. If it still fails,
the type inspection shall not be passed.
8 Marking and packaging
8.1 Marks
8.1.1 The dual-flank meshing instrument shall be marked with:
a) Manufacturer’s name or registered trademark;
b) Product name and model (or mark);
c) Product manufacturing date and product serial number.
8.1.2 The marks on the outer packaging of the dual-flank meshing instrument shall
comply with the requirements of GB/T 191-2008 and GB/T 6388-1986.
8.2 Packaging
8.2.1 The packaging of the dual-flank meshing instrument shall comply with the
requirements of GB/T 4879-1999 and GB/T 5048-1999.
8.2.2 The dual-flank meshing instrument that meets the requirements of this Standard
after inspection shall have a product certificate that complies with the provisions of
GB/T 14436-1993. The product certificate shall be marked with the standard number
of this Standard, product serial number and production date, the instruction manual that
complies with the provisions of GB/ T9969-2008, and the packing list.
