3 Molecular formula and relative molecular mass Molecular formula. NaHS

Relative molecular mass. 56.06 (according to the international relative atomic mass in 2018)

4 Classification

Sodium hydrosulfide for industrial use is divided into 4 specifications. 32% (liquid), 38% (liquid), 43% (liquid) and 70% (solid).

5 Technical requirements

The technical requirements of sodium hydrosulfide for industrial use shall meet the requirements of Table 1.

6 Test methods

6.1 General provisions The reagents and water that are used in this Standard, when no other requirements are specified, refer to analytical reagents and grade-III water which is specified in GB/T 6682-2008. 6.2 Appearance inspection Under natural light, visually judge the appearance. 6.3 Determination of sodium sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide and sodium carbonate contents 6.3.1 Principle Add barium chloride to the sample solution to precipitate sodium carbonate; use hydrochloric acid standard titration solution to titrate; 6.3.2 Reagents or materials 6.3.2.5 Phenolphthalein indicator solution (10 g/L). 6.3.2.6 Bromocresol green-methyl red indicator solution. 6.3.3 Instruments and apparatuses Acidimeter or automatic potentiometric titrator. the accuracy is 0.02 pH unit; it is equipped with calomel electrode and glass electrode or composite electrode. 6.3.4 Test procedure 6.3.4.1 Preparation of test solution 6.3.5 Test data processing 6.3.5.1 Sodium sulfide content The sodium sulfide content is calculated, as mass fraction w1 of sodium sulfide (Na2S), according to Formula (1). 6.3.5.2 Sodium hydrosulfide content The sodium hydrosulfide content is calculated, as mass fraction w2 of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS), according to Formula (2). 6.3.5.3 Sodium carbonate content The sodium carbonate content is calculated, as mass fraction w3 of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), according to Formula (3). 6.4 Determination of sodium sulfite and sodium thiosulfate contents 6.4.1 Principle After adding sodium carbonate solution to the test solution, add zinc sulfate solution; the formed zinc carbonate suspension precipitates sulfide ions. Take a portion of filtrate and add the formaldehyde solution to mask the sodium sulfite; use iodine standard titration solution to titrate the sodium thiosulfate. Take another portion of filtrate; use the iodometry to determine the combined content of sodium thiosulfate and sodium sulfite; subtract the equivalent amount of sodium thiosulfate content, to gain the difference between the two, which is the sodium sulfite content. 6.4.2 Reagents or materials 6.4.3 Instruments and apparatuses Micro burette. 10 mL, division value of 0.05 mL. 6.4.4 Test procedure 6.4.4.1 Pipette 200 mL of test solution B; place it in a 500 mL volumetric flask; successively add 60 mL of sodium carbonate solution, 120 mL of zinc sulfate solution, 40 mL of 95% ethanol; add water to dilute to the mark; shake well; dry filter; discard the first 20 mL of filtrate; collect the filtrate in a 500 mL conical flask. 6.5.2 Reagents or materials 6.5.2.1 Hydrogen peroxide. 30% solution. 6.5.2.2 Other reagents are the same as Chapter 4 of GB/T 3049-2006. 6.5.3 Instruments and apparatuses 6.5.3.1 Porcelain crucible. 50 mL. 6.5.3.2 Cuvette. 5 cm. 6.5.3.3 High temperature furnace. The temperature can be controlled at 600 °C ± 20 °C. 6.5.3.4 Other equipment is the same as Chapter 5 of GB/T 3049-2006. 6.5.4 Test procedure 6.5 mL of hydrogen peroxide solution while stirring in a fume hood; continue to stir for 1 min. 6.5.5 Test data processing The iron content is calculated, as mass fraction w6 of iron (Fe), according to Formula (6).
