1 General provisions
1.0.1 This Code is formulated to standardize the design of interior decoration of
buildings, reduce fire hazards, and protect personal and property safety.
1.0.2 This Code is applicable to the design of fire prevention in interior
decoration of industrial and civil buildings. It is not applicable to the design of
fire prevention in interior decoration of ancient buildings and wooden structures.
1.0.3 The design of interior decoration for the building shall actively adopt non-
combustible materials and flame-retardant materials, avoid the use of materials
that generate a large amount of smoke or poisonous gases during combustion,
so that it is safe and applicable, advanced in technology and economical.
1.0.4 The design in fire prevention of interior decoration of the building shall
comply with the provisions of the relevant current national standards in addition
to the provisions of this Code.
2 Terms
2.0.1
Interior decoration of buildings
Such activities as decoration, protection, installation of fixed facility which
are performed for the interior space of building for the purposes to meet the
functional needs.
2.0.3
Partition
A fixed vertical vertical partition, which does not reach to the roof, inside the
building.
2.0.4
Fixed furniture
Furniture that is fixed to the building structure or that is not easy to change
position, such as the closet, wall cabinets, display stands, large shelves and
so on inside the building.
3 Types and classification decoration materials
3.0.1 Decoration materials may, according to the location of use and the
function, be divided into seven categories. decoration materials for ceiling,
decoration materials for wall, decoration materials for floor, decoration materials
for partition, fixed furniture, decorative fabrics, other decoration materials.
3.0.2 The decoration materials shall, according to their combustion
performance, be divided into four grades. They shall also comply with the
provisions of Table 3.0.2 of this Code.
3.0.4 The gypsum plaster board and mineral-wool acoustic board which have a
combustion performance of grade B1 and are installed on the metal joist can be
used as the grade A decoration materials.
3.0.5 For the paper and cloth wallpaper which has a mass per unit area of less
than 300 g/m2, when it is directly pasted onto the grade A substrate, it can be
used as the grade B1 decoration material.
4 Typical places
4.0.1 Interior decoration of buildings shall not arbitrarily reduce, alter,
remove, obstruct the fire-fighting facilities, evacuation signs, safety exits,
evacuation exits, evacuation walkways, fire compartments, smoke
compartments, etc.
4.0.2 The fire hydrant box’s door inside the building shall not be sheltered
by the decoration. The color of the decoration material around the fire
hydrant box’s door shall be clearly different from the color of the fire
hydrant box’s door; or otherwise it shall provide the illuminating sign on
the surface of the fire hydrant box’s door.
4.0.4 For the horizontal evacuation walkways and the safe exit’s halls of
the above-ground buildings, the ceiling shall use the grade A decoration
materials; the other parts shall use the decoration materials which are not
lower than grade B1.
4.0.5 The ceiling, wall, and floor of the evacuation stairwell and the front
room shall use the grade A decoration materials.
4.0.8 The combustion performance grade of the interior decoration
materials of the windowless room shall be increased by one grade in
addition to the grade A, based on the provisions of Table 5.1.1, Table 5.2.1,
Table 5.3.1, Table 6.0.1, Table 6.0.5.
4.0.12 For the restaurant and scientific research laboratories that often
use open flame appliances, the combustion performance grade of the
decoration materials shall be increased by one grade, based on the
provisions in Table 5.1.1, Table 5.2.1, Table 5.3.1, Table 6.0.1, Table 6.0.5.
4.0.13 For the warehouse or storage room in the civil building, all the
interior decoration shall comply with the provisions for the corresponding
locations, the decoration materials shall be not lower than grade B1.
4.0.19 The interior of the building should not be equipped with wall hangings,
fabrics, etc., which are made of grade B3 decoration materials. When it is
necessary to set up, it shall not be close to electrical lines, fire sources or heat
sources; or otherwise it shall take isolation measures.
4.0.20 For the places which are not specified in this Code, the internal
decoration shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of this
Code.
5 Civil buildings
5.1 Single-storey and multi-storey civil buildings
5.1.1 The combustion performance grade of the decoration materials in
various parts of single-storey and multi-storey civil buildings shall not be
lower than the provisions of Table 5.1.1 of this Code.
5.2 High-rise civil buildings
5.2.1 The combustion performance grade of the decoration materials of
various parts inside the high-rise civil building shall not be lower than the
provisions of Table 5.2.1 of this Code.
5.3 Underground civil buildings
5.3.1 The combustion performance grade of the decoration materials of
various parts inside the underground civil building shall not be lower than
the provisions of Table 5.3.1 of this Code.
5.3.2 Except for the places as specified in clause 4 of this Code and the
locations as specified in item No.6 ~ 8 of Table 5.3.1 of this Code, for the above-
ground part of the underground civil building which is constructed separately,
the combustion performance grade of the interior decoration materials for the
foyer, lounge, office, etc.
6 Factory buildings and warehouses
6.0.1 The combustion performance grade of the decoration materials of
various parts inside the factory building shall not be lower than the
provisions of Table 6.0.1 of this Code.
6.0.3 When the floor of the factory building is an elevated floor, the floor shall
use the decoration materials of not lower than grade B1.
6.0.4 For the supporting rooms for office, research and development, catering,
etc., which are attached inside industrial buildings, when using the fire
separation and evacuation facilities as specified in the current national standard
“Code of design on building fire protection and prevention” GB 50016, the
combustion performance grade of the interior decoration materials may follow
the provisions for civil buildings.
6.0.5 The combustion performance grade of the decoration materials in
various locations inside the warehouse shall not be lower than the
provisions of Table 6.0.5 of this Code.
